Yeah, a 9.3 running 10.1 seems a little odd. Unless it's the same phone as 9.1, but they're running 10.1 so they made it the next odd number. Just seems a bit odd to already be testing 10.1 out when 10 hasn't been released to the general public yet, which one would assume they would want to do to reveal any bugs that haven't been brought out through the beta process.

The difference is minimal between both chips the ram is same 2GB,will be impressive if comes out to be true

We've got to be approaching ARM chips shipping in Macs. Surely it's only a matter of time. Apple are killing it with their chip design and utterly smoking the competition.

The only issue I can think of is emulating the x86 instruction set; either with software, or natively in the hardware. Could anybody clarify if this is feasible?

Put a grain of salt on this information, for now. Once iPhone 7 is released, everything would not be secret anymore.

"The iPad Pro is without question faster than the new one-port MacBook or the latest MacBook Airs."

"It’s only a hair slower than my year-old 13-inch MacBook Pro in single-core measurements. Graphics-wise, testing with GFXBench, it blows my MacBook Pro away."

We're talking desktop-class computing performance in these latest-gen devices. Truly incredible. I can't wait to see what I can do with them.

No, seriously I feel like CPU performance hasn't affected real life performance that much since 5S.

Anyway: Why are people so excited and surprised?
Next gen A processor is slightly faster than current gen AX - that's what happened for years now.

Because they smoke the competition. Plus they're more powerful than sub $600 laptop CPUs shipping now. That's really impressive. They're desktop class CPUs and designed by Apple. This is in-house stuff. And they continue to make advancements in the performance.

Given Apples track record about being slow to react at times, more specifically how long it took them to go to 2gb ram in an IPhone....does anyone realistically expect to see 3gb this year? Not being sarcastic either it just seems too early, based on track record.

I'd say it will happen in the 7S.

Nice, but current CPUs are already plenty fast - what are the actual features/benefits of upgrading to the iPhone 7?

Still amazing how much faster they get every year... if you look at the 5-10% increases from Intel...
What's the point, though? How much speed do you need to perform the tasks that most people use their smartphone for?
I can (sort of) see the iPad Pro needing this kind of speed because Apple wants people to use it as a computer and do "computer things" with it. But, your iPhone? Email, browsing, banking, watching video, social media? You really need a pocket-rocket phone for that?

Part of the reason there are less "new features" in the iPhone 7 is because Apple seems content (as always) making it thinner and faster. That's their "innovation".

A10X in the iPad Pro 9.7 this fall? or whatever it will be called.

Definitely. Can't sell a "pro" iPad for very long without including the top SOC in it. That might be compelling for me as the Pencil support could easily be a game changer for my work flow if I can hand markup documents and then just email them around.

Probably not very much without the software to support them. Videos might export faster, files might index faster, graphic intensive games might load faster, but otherwise, can't think of many apps or workflows that might take full advantage of such raw power.

I guess it will really help the new photo recognition features in ios 10 too, since it is done on-device.

That's all true, but we've reached a point where software is lagging behind and the great performance isn't used.
Like most people I'm not playing latest gen high quality video games on my phone, I'm using it for taking photos or videos, texting, mail, calls, browsing and other not that demanding apps like playing the occasional classic game.
We are missing the next killer application to utilize all the performance in a useful way.

Another thing: RAM
With iOS' great RAM management and 4 GB of RAM iPhone would be able to keep all my applications ready to launch instantly. RAM is dirt cheap and adds significantly to the snappy-ness of a device. From my past experience I can tell that iPhones which came with increased RAM generally lasted way longer than others and as it seems there won't be an upgrade this year, at least not on the 4.7" model.

That's actually a pretty impressive feat. They've been increasing the performance of the A series by a significant amount in every generation, and they *keep* doing it on a yearly basis. That's an incredible track record and a lot of us thought it would've slowed down a lot more by this point.

has anyone already commented that this A10 is faster than any Skylake processor, intel sucks and apple should put their processors in the new MacbookPro?
