I actually don't know what the terminal is, so I typed it in to open it, I still don't know.

Terminal is access to the Unix command-line interface, similar to "cmd" giving a DOS prompt in Windows. The similarity ends there.

DOS is to Unix as a Mini is to a Peterbilt. Same controls, tires on each corner, windshield, etc., but a whole lot more difficult & dangerous to drive if you don't know what you're doing behind the wheel.

As I tell my clients, Unix is DOS for grownups.

how come anything i download, there's an icon on the desktop..where can i move it? i downloaded the fan yesterday and now i can't find it..

How do I right click?

Neil mentioned it just before your post, but there were a couple of other people telling you to ctrl+click to right click.

I would highly suggest you follow Neil's advice and set up right clicking in the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane in System Preferences.

I can't stand using Windows laptops or older Macs that don't support two-finger right clicking. Not to mention two-finger scrolling.

I hope you're enjoying your Apple experiences! It took me a couple of weeks before I felt really comfortable, but five years later and I've never looked back. :)

Now worries,if you have a few bucks to spare,i'd suggest you get this book it's probably the best one ever written for people that are new to Mac's & leopard

Not like anyone needs a second opinion, but I really have to say that Pogue's books are excellent. It's really useful for someone who is new to mac.

It's not too expensive either.

Okay, I think I might know what I'm doing wrong. What I've been doing was that each time I downloaded something, I thought that the app will stay in the dock so I trashed everything else because it took up space in the Download Stack folder. Where should I put the files I download now? And is there a way to make apps stay in the dock?

i thought you said you had read through this thread i aint helping anymore only joshing, this has been answered but here it is again, the files you download will go into your download folder which is finder, when you first download a app open it & then drag the icon to the application or utilities folder once you have set up right clicking again i answered this in my original post, anytihng you put on the left side of the dock will stay there to make sure right click on it and keep in dock

to set up right clicking

system preferences > keyboard & mouse > trackpad tab > for secondary clicks

no need to apologize, but make sure you read through it again, even write down the important bits, make sure you set up your right clicks the way i posted above then all you have to do is place two fingers on the trackpad & click

Yeah, I already set it up a while back.

Now in the process of writing everything down.
