Quite a few people at work discuss their iP6 battery life experiences, it tends to vary widely from better to worse which is perfectly understandable given the difference between users. Overall it seems like there's not a lot of difference from last year.

Why would differences between users matter? I would assume they are all comparing the 6 to their previous iphones. Same user, different phone.

Likely differences between how different people use their phones (what they do on them, for how long, how often, etc.) and where they do it (factoring in WiFi availability, signal strength, etc.).

As long as you have a place to sleep, battery shouldn't be a concern.

Lasts all day and charge it at night. Not sure why a battery needs to last 2-3 days, when everyone that's not homeless should have a socket in their homes for when they sleep.

Now if you're not getting a full day (while you awake), that's a different story

..the voice of reason

I in general agree with this.

But... I will say what I want is a battery I don't worry that if I don't conserve some it won't even last til the end of the day. And I don't mean with normal use. I mean that even on days that I am using it heavily I'm not worrying (my 5 is no longer like that, I swear the battery just doesn't seem as good as it used to).

So, while as long as it gets me through a day I'm fine, I want to hear that in general it will last two days of use (not that I expect this honestly but that is where I'll be totally satisfied with battery use and not worrying about it anymore). Or at least one day of heavy use.

Anyways, that's the ideal I want to hear eventually when discussing battery life of a new phone. My laptop has pretty much almost gotten there (this years rMBP long as I don't want to use it for gaming ;) ). The ipad actually is pretty good on that (iPad 2 even so it's old). But iphones just aren't there yet :(. It's one thing I'm kinda jealous of the 6+, it sounds like it is close.

I'm with you. I want a phone with a battery I KNOW will last for a full day of heavy use, and I wouldn't ever even be tempted to buy a power pack for because I know it would never be needed.

But it's the same user we're talking about: If John Doe says that his iphone 6 is not much better than his iphone 5 is in battery life, that's valuable information. It doesn't matter what OTHER people do with their phones or how much battery life THEY get: John Doe does X amount of this and Y amount of that regardless of what phone he's using.

It seems like I've had a dozen versions of this same argument… People will say things like "different users use their phones differently, so it's hard to compare batteries" and I'll say "But the same person generally uses their phone the same way regardless of what model they are using, so of course you can compare batteries!"

Either I'm not understanding sonething or you guys aren't...

I actually hadn't been paying attention to battery data until recently, just relying on how things seemed. But it appears on an average day, I'll get to around 20% with 4 hours usage and 16 hours standby. What might we expect the 6 to do in comparison?

I also noticed that when I traveled to a professional football game 40 miles from my house recently, my battery drained much faster that day (although I forgot to check the usage). Why was that? Is the phone searching for connections while I'm moving across state lines and such, and draining the battery?
