What I usually do...

Go to the mall, buy a small piece of luggage from macys, walk briskly into the store and say that my iPhone just died and I have a plane to catch and tell them that the place you're flying to doesn't have an apple store if they ask. (check for a place that doesn't so you don't get caught looking stupid) return the luggage to macys after your expedited service... The end!!

I have an appointment set for Friday night.
What do I need to do as far as backing up my info?
I'm guessing my contacts are fine on my sim card, but I don't know the best way to back up photos, settings, etc.

Actually nothing is saved on the sim any more.
Its all backed up in itunes.
Plug your phone into itunes, right click on the iphone and select backup.
or just sync, it will automaticly do a backup.
Your photos folder and everything else should be there on your computer.

I had a dead pixel and got my iPhone replaced at my genius bar appointment. Couldn't be happier. The screen is perfect on this one and the vibrate switch is much more crisp that it was before.

I never make an appointment. I always just walk in and never wait more than 5 minutes. And that is saying something, seeing as that is the only Apple store, and closest all around in my state.
