I hope they do something about buttons for 5S. Number of failures is jaw dropping.

I think the policy is 90 days or remainder of warranty, whichever is longer.

Oh wow.. so if I had a bad phone on launch day and got it replaced within a week, I would only get ~90 days of warranty out of the whole deal!!

The warranty on my current iPhone 5 runs out last week of September, I will then wait until Labor Day to try get a replacement.

Whichever is longer. That means if you got it replaced within a week of launch, you'd get the remainder which is 51 weeks not 90 days.

I've taken in two iPhones with failing sleep/wake buttons - one with a minor screen crack and another that got rained on - and both were replaced without any trouble. I was happy to see that the Geniuses seem to recognize the failing button is a known failure and it was unrelated to any other damage to the phone (within reason - the phones were well-taken-care-of in general).

I too had this lock button problem. Got it swapped over in seconds in the Covent Garden Apple Store. The replacement is in better condition then my original iPhone 5. Happy with the service and the flawless 5 :D

I have an appointment with my local tomorrow for exactly this problem.

Do I have to bring charger and box etc?

I have a screen protector on my phone atm so any chance of them giving me a free one to put on my replacement iPhone?

Assuming they replace the faulty phone. Do they give you a new phone sealed boxed? Or is it a refurbished phone? Without the box. Just the replacement phone?

Thx

Same thing happened to me. Looked at it, clicked it a few times, and got me a brand new one. This was also a few months ago.

@03sho, I had brought everything with me but he didn't need anything. Just swapped phones.

Went today because my sleep/wake button was stuck. They simply gave me a refurbished phone instead of repairing it, they even said that the sleep/lock button repair couldn't be repaired in the store.

From what I hear things are changing a bit at the Genius Bar with Apple doing more to attempt fixes instead of as many exchanges.

They will obviously do a quick check for water damage. I wouldn't put it past them to pop open iPhone to attempt to clean around the button.
Dust or lint etc might have it being sticky!

If not then prob a replacement.

Just got mine replaced because of the same issue. Just make sure you don't have iOS 7 installed. The genius said he'd gladly replace my iPhone, but it took a little bit longer as he had to downgrade the old phone back to iOS 6 before he could send it off to apple. The don't officially support iOS 7 yet.
