How many people are still in line at Lenox? Wondering if it is worth driving over from Vinings to get a 16GB Wi-Fi model.

Nope. I got the last 16 GB Wi-Fi and I was 6th in line. I think they only had like 4 of them but people in front of me were getting Verizon models.

Any updates on the status of iPads flowing into Atlanta?

I got one yesterday finily at Noth Point. They only got in verison, and 16 GB Wifi. I was looking for a wifi 32, but I went ahead and bought a verison 32, and now love the fact that I did, as the GPS is pretty cool.

That said, they opened at 9:00, and I had gotten there a little after 7:00 AM. By 9:00 there where about 100 people there, and I was about 9th in line... I had called on Tuesday to make sure that they would have them, and they told me then that they would have some, but didn't know what. That said, a lot of people showed up at 9:00 when they opened looking shocked that other people where there, much less 100 of them. By that point they had already handed out tickets too, and all of them where handed out. There where ticketless people standning in the back of the line still when I left, not sure what they where hoping for???

If I where you, I would just keep calling the night before and asking who will open early hoping to catch the one you want.

Good luck!

Thanks for the update. I may try to call Friday night to see who has what & then get up early Saturday morning. I am only looking for a 16GB wifi for the wife, so hopefully those flow in pretty frequently.

Anybody planning on trying tomorrow morning? Debating on going to either Lenox or Perimeter. Which has gotten the best shipments this week?

I went to the Lenox Mall Apple Store this weekend to inquire about how often they have been getting shipments. The girl was very open & honest with me. She said that they get their shipments each evening & usually know if they got any iPads before closing each night. She said that if you call them at closing time, they have been telling people yes or no if they got a shipment. Unfortunately, they are not telling people what is in the shipment or how many they got. The shipment could contain 50 of all styles, or it could contain 4 white 64GB VZW versions. She then said that if they have iPads & there is a line (which she said there has been one every day), they will open an hour early just to sell out their iPad stock.

I can't speak for the Apple stores elsewhere in Atlanta, but I would be surprised if they were not doing something identical to Lenox.

There also seems to be zero shortage on smartcovers & every other iPad accessory.

Microcenter

I have a reservation for a 64GB Wifi-only Black at Microcenter-Marietta. I put down a deposit last Saturday. Evidently, they have received their expected supply of every option, except this one! I'm hoping they get them in today.

Best Buy in Kennesaw had a bunch of available 16gb wifi only black late this afternoon today. Others in stock but for fulfilling reservations and not available for purchase. They said they had about 100 reservations to fulfill, and of course not are taking any more reservations.

FYI, the "Marietta East" Target is showing White Wifi 32GB and White VZW 32GB as "Available" right this moment via their online system (see Target thread in main forum). This store is at Johnson Ferry & Roswell Road in East Cobb (not Sandy Springs).

May or may ot be helpful...

I live in Athens and iPads are much easier to find here. The UGA on campus bookstore has them in stock right now and I went to the best buy here the other day and purchased one (64 gb AT&T white). Just walked right in around 2 and bought it (read: didnt wake up at 5 am to wait for the store to open). I talked to an apple rep at best buy and he said they were getting shipments in about every other day. Anyway, it's about an hour/hour and a half hike from Atlanta but may be worth it for some. Also the UGA bookstore is selling iPad 1s for $200 off if that interests anyone...

anybody know if the Lenox store is getting a steady supply? If so, when is the best time to go?

The Perimeter Mall Apple Store has been getting steady shipments in. Just call to find out when they will get their next shipment, and tell them the model/version/color that you want, and ask if they will have any of those in their next shipment. That's what I did, and I grabbed a black 32GB wifi model this past Saturday, 4/2/11. They opened at 9am, and I got there at 6:30am with a folding chair, to sit in line. By 7:30am, they came out and asked us which model we wanted, and gave us a voucher for that model, so at least we only had to wait an hour, and we'd know if they had what we wanted, and it was reserved for us. Not too shabby, as I'd have to wait 3- 5 weeks for my Ipad 2 to be delivered.

they still all run out early in the morning then? :(

For the most part, yes. But just pick some mornings when you or someone else can get there early enough. It was well worth it IMO. Bring a folding chair, and relax...use your smartphone to pass the time. Only took an hour before I knew that I'd have exactly what I wanted on hold for me. You can then come back with your voucher when the store opens.

hmm I'm considering. how many other people were there at 6:30-7:30?

For those interested... went to the Lenox store today around 630pm. They had a couple of Verizon and Wi-fi models in-store for sale. Also, North Point is expecting a shipment tomorrow.

When I got there at 6:30am, there were 13 people ahead of me, and by 7:30am, I'd say over double that, and the line kept getting bigger.
