Never wait. If you need a notebook, go get one. Haswell not worth any wait.

Haswell is most certainly worth the wait. ESPECIALLY since it is only weeks away. It's not like that will be the only upgrade either, because the iGPU and dGPU will see bumps as well, along with thunderbolt 2 (most likely) and other various upgrades.

New iMacs were released a few days but Apple was a little silent on that; if it weren't for a single article on MR I wouldn't have noticed. I'm afraid rMBP will share the same fate - receiving less attention from Apple. So we might see less focus put into Macs (less innovation etc.) in years to come when iPhones and iPads are their priority now. Apple is happy with the 9mil iPhone sales/3 days now, so who caree about Mac LOL.

Every company is like that now. Sony used to make beast Vaios (for $2-3k) but look at their website now now: Vaio Pro (ultrabook), Vaio Fit (semi-ultrabook), Duo (tablet with keyboard). Portability is the new trend now eh? (smartphone, tablets and ultrabooks)

Of course I'm a huge fan of both iPhone and iPad but a little of me dies inside when seeing PC/Mac market gradually declining. I mean, I don't want to do my Excel/Word/PPT and Photoshop on an iPad, do I?

I have a problem with my existing 2012 retina :( if i find out its too costly to repair what changes will this years model bring besides the Haswell and ac wifi protocol?

I cannot agree more. Some of us actually need to get work done. All these devices (smartphones, tablets) these days are mass-produced as consumption devices.

I think you can still have a mix of portability and power. Look at the MBA/rMBP.

I will always love Macs. But it is disappointing just how little of Apple's business they account for now.

If you are willing to pay full retail, wait for Haswell; if you want lower prices for a great machine, buy now either the 2012 or 2013 editions of the 13 or 15 rMBP.

Agreed. $1599 for a refurbished rMBP 15" (mid-2012) with full warranty is hard to turn down. I couldn't and should receive mine on Monday. Will that price get reduced? Anything is possible, though I don't see why it has to. That's $600 off what they were until the February 2013 minor refresh.

I suspect the price will stay at $1599 on the mid-2012 refurbished 15" rMBP's till they clear out. Regardless, I wasn't prepared to pay $2199 for a new computer, Haswell or no Haswell.
