You're certainly welcome to your opinion and I'm not going to argue with you. I will reiterate my own because I think I'm being misunderstood:
The iPhone is a good phone/device, I can't imagine anyone being significantly upset with getting one, whether they bought it today or a 4GB the day it came out. That said, those of us who use smart phones as I do - i.e. away from WiFi - will be getting a phone 10 times better by waiting for 3G which all signs and rumors point to coming out in 3-5 months... which is not a long time at all to wait for such a drastic upgrade in internet speed.
That's an upgrade that effects about 50% of the phone's functionality. That's 3-5 months wait for a vast portion of what makes the phone so great and innovative made available to you on 3G rather than the current speeds which are slower than dial-up was 10 years ago.
Is the iPhone on the market today great? Absolutely. Is 3G going to make it fantastically better? Absolutely.
