Hi guys

current situation - HTC One M7 with torrid battery life. Won't make it past 4 hours with light usage :(
not to mention it will brick itself for 3 hours every time I try software update (damn you insurance phone!)

Upgrade is due on the 22nd February, so I ask the question is it worth getting a 6 plus in 2.5 weeks time or should I wait till the next gen phone comes out in September?

What would you do in my situation?
Thanks!

I'm waiting for Apple to return to the iOS 6 look and iPhone 4S build quality/form factor.

Only you know how big of a pain your current phone will be this spring and summer. My 5S works fine and I won't have any problem waiting for fall.

Waiting on the 6Splus for dat 2GB ram, improved camera and probably a strengthened chassis.

This ^.

I wouldn't get any new phone on the market currently as they all have a major flaw. The 6+ would've been a great option if it were future proofed (2gb ram)... but it's not, so I would suggest waiting for the 6S+ this coming Sept.

If your current phone is just not working, and you depend on a working phone for your livelihood (real estate etc) then absolutely go for a new phone. If your phone doesn't really get in the way of putting food on your table, then wait out to see what Apple presents in he 6+S.

I should add with the battery life. It will last till midday and then die with very light usage. This thing drops 10% an hour without me using it!

So you wait for the 6S, then you will say well the 7 will be out soon, so you wait, then you say well the 7S will be out soon so you wait. Either way something will always be better. Get the phone now and enjoy it.

Is there a chance to have the battery changed somewhere for $50 or whatever? As it seems that this is the major pain, could be a good investment to help you to make it through with your current handy until the next iPhone.

I normally agree with this sentiment – however, IMO there's "better" and "future-proof better" – and I think the jump from 1GB to 2GB could be considered last one at this time if you don't buy an iPhone every year, but rock everything out of it for three, four years. (Which of course, if the most "future-proof" we can talk about when it comes to smartphones.)

Or none of the above. ;)

Only you can make the choice. Does not sound like your phone will last till the 6S

The current iPhones 5, 5c, 5S, 6, 6+ will be history once 2GB 6S releases with PowerVR series 7 GPUs.

Now making iPad Air 2 with 2GB RAM obsolete would be most difficult task for Apple though. :p

I am myself waiting for 2GB RAM phones from Apple. 5S does fine at the moment.

My 6 Plus (under normal usage) lasts for around 3 to 4 days on one battery charge. Best ever (apart from the Nokia 6310).

You need a phone, get a phone. If not, wait.

Blimey, do you keep it in your glovebox for emergency use only?
I run my 6+ down fully every single day.

Just upgrade, you'll find bliss. really don't bother about the ram much, in iosland Apple takes care of it. You just need to enjoy it.

Battery life on iPhone 6+ is just awesome.

Knowing what I know now of the 6 plus I would wait.

Taking into account you (OP's) situation, your phone sounds borderline unusable. At the very least I would complain to insurance that you have a dud. If you don't want to do that, yes, I would upgrade phones.

I'd get the 6 plus when your upgrade is available. I see people complaining about the RAM issue, but I don't run into it during normal use so I don't know how widespread it really is.
