Get latest MBP15 or wait for new one? Pull hair out

The fact that you are contemplating waiting leads me to believe you could. Buy a refurb macbook to use until the new Pro comes out. Then sell the Macbook. You "rent" a puter for a couple months and you don't lose a lot. Plus, when you get to business school and your macbook gets stolen, you won't be so put out...

I had a 12" PB G4 once...5 years ago. Get the MacBook Pro now, it will blow you away.

I suggest buying a refurb direct from Apple and save $$, you are still getting a "new" machine.

I have had my MBP now for about a year and haven't had any problems (knock on wood).

I would just buy now. If you keep waiting for the next thing, you'll be waiting and waiting. As soon as the next one comes out, there will be a new one in development. If you need/want it now, get it.

That is what I did when I bought mine. I was worried about buying mine and an update coming a month later, but in the end, I really wanted it and haven't regretted getting it when I did.

I'm selling my 15.4" brand new MBP, it's still wrapped, in orignal packaging, with a warranty until July 4, 2009. I'm only selling it because my grandparents got it for me for my birthday, and I already have one. Instead of keeping the new one I'm selling it for the money...

Ok.. normally.. if I was still employed and perfectly happy with my
12" G4 PowerBook, I'd have no need for a new laptop. BUT, I'm
unemployed now getting ready for business school to start in August,
though I AM still happy with my 12" G4 PowerBook, and the school
overseas in Asia won't support macs, I figure it's time for a new
laptop... an Intel powered MacBook Pro... so I can switch over to
the Windows side for school work etc. I leave the US beginning of
August... should I wait for new MBP or get one now? Any key
features I'll regret not waiting?

If I was staying in U.S. for school, I wouldn't be posting this thread.
But, school is over seas with no apple store, although apple is planning
on opening one there.

If you can wait until mid-August, then wait because I believe they will come out by then. People don't think so because of the Back 2 School Promotion but what they do not realize is that the Santa Rosa MBP's came out last year a few days after the promotion started. Also, the new, re-designed iMac's came out during the promotion last year, too. So I would try to wait as long as possible.

i dont think the whole "buy a late model machine with all the kinks worked out" argument works here, look how long it took for the nvidia issue to surface!

not to mention the other problems people are having.

anybody that is STILL wondering whether or not to wait, may as well wait because you obviously aren't in dire need of a new computer. wait it out, there's a price drop, possible new gpu, and new processor right around the corner, it doesn't make sense to buy now if you dont absolutely have to
