I have had this problem since I moved to a mac. I use an ISP that is a service from my college. alum.rpi.edu

2 ques:

How do I get updates on a fix. I don't want to go online and offline forever?

Has anyone used another mail program on Mac that fixed issue.

1. You could check the KB article to see if it gets updated:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5367

I am not holding my breath, but perhaps within a year....

2. Outlook for Mac and Thunderbird both avoid the issue. There is always Gmail too, of course.

Hey all,

I am happy to report that Yosemite has solved this problem. I just upgraded and now I get messages within a minute of them being sent.

Only 15 months from start to finish on fixing this very annoying bug!
