Why would I need this for my 2023 M2 Mac Mini?
Right now I’m using this for $37.99 at BB and it works great:
Docks like these are targeted more at laptop users that only have Thunderbolt ports where a USB-C based solution wouldn’t have the bandwidth to cover display, external storage, ethernet and more over a single connection. For desktop users like the Mini a basic USB hub is all you’d need because you already have HDMI and Ethernet.

I've had a few docks from OWC and they have all been absolute junk. If you literally breath on these things the cables wobble and boom disconnect. That company is dead to me.

If you're looking for a killer dock and money isn't an issue, I would highly recommend The iVanky Max 1. An unbelievable amount of ports and they all work perfectly. I've never loved a dock as much as I do this one. Been using it for several months now without any issues whatsoever.

Interesting commentary. I have used OWC for decades and have never seen any "absolute junk." Lots of things I would not buy, including this old dock being hyped by MR; but no absolute junk.

I noticed the spec sheet on that device says the M3 MBP only supports a single external display. Didn't Apple change that with an OS update to allow dual external display?

It's likely the spec sheet is old. It's very likely the dock would support two displays for the M3 MBP with the lid closed.
