I recently used metal ones in Air France. Is that rule only in certain countries?
Hm... when you do those web sites that tell you how long you have left to live, one of the questions is how many x-rays you have had...
Even if it is a lower dose than a normal x-ray, I am still not happy. I would have to know more about it. Might just stop going places.

There are trade offs for everything in life. The only constant is Death and the only goal is to make the most you can with what happens before it. Like chess you have to trade pieces for position. It would be interesting to see a life expectancy analysis of xraying passengers.

And in a way, there's some truth in what he says. While its racist to single out a particular group or race of people, the fact is that the terrorists targeting the USA are from the Middle East, not Sweden, so people need to understand that they're eyeing people from the Middle East, or people who look like they're from that area of the world more closely than pale-faced Swedes. So while anybody could be a terrorist, I'm sure they're playing the odds, and you really can't expect them to be questioning every white European as closely as people who with a darker complexion.
And no, this is not a white, American male's opinion, if that matters.

Maybe we should also question all Muslims? They're all potentially suicide bombers with your rational. Maybe only people of brown complextion and Muslims should have to go through these X-rays since the white, black, and yellow people haven't done anything really bad in the media lately.
We should be targeting polititions, corporations, world orginizations and the pentagon (sound familiar?). Those are the real terrorist ... they are systematically wiping out third-world nations, creating new ones out of developing nations and no one gives a rat's ass 'cause they're to worried about what the media keeps feeding them. The only polititians that do cry foul are mocked and redicuiled ... and sent to the cutting room floor of the news stations and news circulars.
Please stop buying their version of the world and wake up to the people around you. This x-ray machine is one of many 'security devices' that we will see more of in the near future. If something doesn't change we'll find ourselves in a red, white, and blue version of Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany.

Well since terrorists targeting America right now are Muslims, then sure, I guess I agree that the US should be looking more closely at Muslims passing through the airport than French or Chinese people or whomever.
That isn't to say that everybody shouldn't be check. Of course I want everyone checked. Crazy people can be of any race, but for the US at least, the terrorists are Muslim.
I mean, if the US was tipped off that there was terrorists were at JFK airport, and they were all 5'10", then I say everybody who's 5'10" should be scrutinized more thoroughly, and while people who are 5'7" (or anybody not 5'10") aren't scrutinized as closely, they should still be screened in case they're not terrorists, but happen to be nuts. I don't really find this discriminatory if the reality is that there is a real threat to a country, and the threat happen to all be 5'10". I'm 5'10"......check me too.

What if you had a close friend that was middle eastern and muslim and was always being picked out because of his skin color and beliefs ... would you feel the same way? What if you were a middle eastern muslim? What if you were getting bombed by the US? What would you do? You can't fight back ... that would be terrorist action and would be labeled as 'insurgence'.

Hey, I know that it wasn't perahps the greatest movie ever, but does this not seem to be a lot like that scanner in Total Recall?? I agree that the one in the moive was more what you would expect from an x-ray, but I suppose that it is inevitable that something along those lines would show up one day. I'm suprised they don't just have people lay down on the scanner that you but your bags on... or maybe a moving floor thing that you stand on (like an escolator minus the escalation) that passes you by a scanner.

Wow, great way to cloud the subject. Now I have to read it over again and try to figure out what you're going on about.
Would I care if people were picking on my Muslim friend in every day life? Of course, and my friends would mind as well.
Would I mind if US Airport Security looked at my Muslim friend a bit closer than me? Nope, and I'm sure my friends wouldn't either.
We've talked about this after 9/11, and the reality is that the terrorist groups targeting the US are/were Muslim. If Chinese terrorists flew planes into the WTC, then sure, check me more carefully at the airport. I'd understand the situation and cooperate.
You're equally close-minded, and you're trying to change my opinion to match yours. I didn't do that. I only pointed out that Lacero has a valid point, but didn't push my opinion on anyone when their opinion wasn't the same as mine. And I'm not the one who got frustrated after I tried.
