Don't sweat it man. Search these forums and you'll find me arguing the merits of a Verizon iPhone to death on threads from earlier this year. If Verizon came out with an iPhone, I never would have switched to AT&T. I finally did make the switch in August, partly because I wanted the iPhone so bad, and partly because AT&T is making a lot of progress expanding their network here in California. It's still not nearly up to Verizon's level of coverage, but it's finally good enough.
As time goes on it's becoming increasingly clear that Verizon is going a different path with the Storm and all the touch featurephones. That's fine. Competition is a good thing, and the Storm might have just enough parity with the iPhone to push Apple to take their innovation even further. Still, I feel bad for the Virginians and mid-westerners who have crappy or no AT&T coverage and have to put two devices in their pocket (an iPod Touch and a Verizon phone) in order to enjoy most of the iPhone experience.
The bottom line is that if we want a Verizon iPhone, it has to be a different model specifically designed by Apple for CDMA/EVDO. There's no other way. Indications are that it will eventually happen, but probably not for another 1-2 years.
