Air 2 is the world's thinnest tablet, has the least reflective tablet screen, Touch ID, faster, and better cameras. It's a great tablet. You just need to decide if that is going to add $100 in value.

IMO - there will be very little difference between the air an air 2 in real-world usage. You probably won't notice the speed difference, and the thick(thin?)ness will be negated by any case you put on it.

The only benefit is the touch id sensor. That's good on an iPhone, but on an iPad? The home button is never where my thumb is on the iPad, so it'd be pretty pointless to me.

I still think the Mini 2 is the best of the lineup!

The screen on Air 2 will be like the difference between iPhone 4S and 5, which was huge. A lot of clarity, vibrance, and closeness was gained when they made the screen into a single layer.

How about the price. Is 64gb has same price between Air and Air 2?
For the thinness, I would wait for real experience. Sometimes, thinner doesn't mean more comfortable to hold.

Well they eliminated the 32GB tier for Air 2, so now the original price of 32GB on Air, gets you 64GB when you buy an Air 2.

Well luckily enough I forgot I had a Nexus 7 lying around and I sold that for $150 yesterday...so I might be just returning to Best Buy Friday to return mine and pick up the 64GB Air 2.

If you have a Discover card, use their site to go to Best Buy's website and then you can order it for in store pickup and get 10% back in rewards.

Yeah I heard about that... I have 12-month financing (no interest) with the Best Buy Card though that's the route I might stay with.

And if you are an elite Rewards member, then you get 45 days to try it and see if the cost is worth it to you.

Prior iPads are on sale, that is something to consider for me. Especially the extra storage space which gives greater bang for my buck.

Forgot about that too I am an elite rewards member lol. I might go check it out in person when they're in stock and see if it's really worth it for myself.

Last year, there were only 10 people on line when the Air was released. I was third 15 minutes before the store opened. Plenty of time to decide as the iPad releases are nothing like the iPhones that sell in droves on day 1.

Yeah I figured - not everyone is as crazy about the iPad.

the Air (1) i ordered right after the Air 2 was released is arriving today :D

Why not get the A2? Just want to know because I'm thinking of the A1 myself and need some help with the decision. Still using the original Ipad.

Is the upgraded features over the 1st gen Air worth it to you? Just go through the list of features and decide. The 1st gen Air on sale is a very good buy.

Head to Apple or Best Buy etc. and try each one when both are on display.

I'm enjoying the A1 right now - I'm going to be checking out the A2 when it's on display but it's hard to beat getting the A1 32GB at $449 (in my eyes).

I'm technically challenged as one should be able to tell since I still have the original ipad.

well, pretty much what everyone else said. I'm a phd student and so is my wife, and we have lots of tech in the house so we don't use my iPad for much else than pdf reading so there was no point in spending $200 more (I do need more than 16gb, lots of pdf's) and the 32 A1 vs the 64 A2 is a difference of $200... we just needed a second iPad so we don't fight over the one we had :D

p.s.
Just got my A1 today, and running the updates on it :D seems pretty nice so far :)

Just get the Air 2. In spite of what people say and have said for the past half-week, it's a noticeable improvement. There's no reason not to get the new one.

Not really true though. The "upgrades" are somewhat trivial as far as many people are concerned. The faster chip is nice but it isn't like the Air is slow. Far from it. The camera updates will only appeal to photographers who just don't use ipads for that kind of thing as far I can tell. Laminated screen? .04 pounds lighter and a mm thinner? Those are upgrades?

I suppose so....

The chip is significantly faster. It has double the memory. Touch ID is a major usability upgrade (IMO). You're already spending a ton of cash, why not get the latest & greatest? At the very least, it's more future-proof than the old one.
