I actually have heard of that with macs.
i was very suprised when they did do it. i had the ghosting issue then trackpad issue then they forgot to put headphone port back in when pixing the trackpad. so took it back in and just said cos of the cost to fix that would be spending to much on laptop so gave me the new model

check appointments daily. I noticed they will show they are full for sometimes a week out, but then when you check later that day there are appointments for the same day open.
i check a few times a day. i dont like the new booking system. combine that with being the only store in northern ireland it just hard work haha

Yes this is true, just don't expect it with any of the phones or tablets. I suspect this might be because only macs have long 3-year warranty options. Still, this may actually work for an iPod touch, but I haven't heard of such.

This could only happen via applecare on the phone. After 5 straight replacements, they will give you the newer model. They did it for me once and my sister once. Gave me a 5s after all the scratching problems with the 5.
then i want my 5s.... i had 6 iPhone 5 replacements so this isn't true either.

They gave you replacements for cosmetic damage?

What I would suggest you doing then is go to your Apple Store as soon as possible and get the replacement for you 6 (to another 6) and then immediately sell it somewhere, Craigslist , eBay, swappa (which I just used, I loved it) or something of the like.. That way you can technically sell it as a like new phone with no scratches or dents/ marks and you will get the most resale value and then you can buy the 6S.
this is what im thinking of doing. just wanted to try my luck (or lack of) at apple haha

you can also donthe trade in program that apple has. but you will still be paying at least $400 to upgrade

damn hahah cheers for the help. only asking because when first got retina pro had few hardware problems and just gave me the new model and not the one i had as had which was bonus. just wondering if was still the same with the phones.

fyi some of you need to calm or just watch your wording. makes you come accross abit angry for a simple question
Sorry, you worded your topic title that deserved the replies it got.

im happy to get a 6 but would rather have the stonger 6s and not have to get it swapped again. im happy to pay the extra to upgrade.

If you are happy to pay the extra for the upgrade I'm sure that Apple will do it for you then.

The little extra they would want would be £539 for a 16GB or £619 for a 64GB, they'll even let you keep the old phone ;).

That's a great idea, I see quite a few of those phones for sale (i.e., "replaced under warranty, hasn't been used/unpackaged"), and they get a decent price.

At the very least I'd get the phone replaced, even if it's the same model, that sounds like less than trivial damage ...

They won't let you upgrade to another model. I got my 5 replaced last month and asked them about adding some extra money to replace it with a 5S and they said nope and the only way was to use the 5 as a trade-in(I think they gave me like $80 lol) and trade up to a new 5S($500ish)

no not at all. i didnt bend my phone on perpose as im happy with the six. its been like it for months but the my local apple store always fully booked so getting an appointment is a nightmare. .
Lol stop man. Just stop. You can book multiple days in advance. There isn't a single Apple Store on the planet that is constantly solidly booked on between refreshes. If you're saying you "couldn't get an appointment" all summer, you are being dishonest with yourself, the forum, or both.

is this possible. have poeple in the past been able to do a warranty replacment to the new model or would i have to pay the extra.

P.S sorry if this has been asked

Nope won't happen. There's plenty of stock for them to replace your 6.

I will say that when my iMac kept acting up they replaced it with a brand new unit from the latest generation. I was quite surprised and pleased.

They won't do this for iPhone though. Sorry, OP.

I know that you can book multiple days in advance and being as it's the only store in Northern Ireland it's booked up constantly. They need to bring back where could book weeks in advance. There is sometimes an afternoon spot but I can't make it to the afternoon appointments

i do have the gold 6 which the have stopped selling might get lucky hahah

They stopped selling iPhone 4 long ago but they still have models in store for replacement.
As far as I know you may get an iPhone 4 to replace a broken 3GS but they'll have refurbished iPhone 6 in store for a few years.
I don't know what happens if they temporary run out of a particular color for a refurbished phone, but I guess it is a rare event. Many people with the same iPhone model and color should go to the same store on the same day to make it happen.

As others said Apple won't do it. Don't you think other folks have tried this over the years. This isn't Apple's first rodeo. They have plenty of refurbished iPhone 6 models in inventory and they'll just give you one of those.

Sell that, and buy the phone you want - simple solution.

And all of the sudden you were able to make time now that a new phone is coming out and you're hoping they let you take that device?
I "believe" you.

Actually I haven't made the time. I never said I had an appointment and I won't have the time for a while

No... Reason: to eliminate the scammers and the opportunists.

Lol sorry OP
This was my thinking but wasn't to sure. Wanted to get an opinion on here before went into store

You're talking about making the time now... A dozen people have called you on it and you're still here trying to defend your stance. It's remarkable.

Anyway, you got your answer. No, you can't trade up phones through warranty. You can justify your reasoning this way and that. Doesn't change the reality of things.

Best of luck in your warranty exchange.

Edit: also, is this the store in Belfast? If so, either this upcoming week is magically different than most, or your claims that there are no available times aren't quite accurate.
