Since the new iPhone 16 Pro ist again heavier and bigger, I will probably switch from my iPhone 15 Pro to the normal iPhone 16.

I think the performance will be pretty much identical, since they added 8GB of RAM, faster ray-traced graphics etc.

The only concern I have is going back to 60Hz display.

Considering the power saving mode on my iPhone 15 Pro (80% of time), there are anyway no ProMotion or Always On available.

So the switch should be easy, or am I missing something? Does anyone else have similar situation? 🙏

Man, if the 16 had ProMotion I would pick that up and replace my 13 Pro. Maybe.. Someday.. 60hz in 2024 is criminal

I can't live without ProMotion. I browse a lot of forums, reddit etc so I need smooth scrolling. But if it doesnt bother you, why not. The 16 is good enough for most users. I am not planning to shoot a music video or make cinematic movies with my phone (is anyone really?) but ProMotion is a dealbreaker.

Yup. I’ll be upgrading from the 15 Pro Max to the regular 16. Tired of big heavy phones.
Isn't the difference like 1.8 ounces? is that really so noticeable?

Size I could understand though if you are going from Max to regular.

yeah size and weight, my favorite phone was the 13 Mini so I got the 15 PM last year and been regretting it ever since lol, can't wait to go to a smaller phone I can slide in my shirt pocket.

Faster ray tracing is only on the 18Pro chip (16Pro/ProMax). A18 should have similar ray tracing as 15Pro. Plus 15Pro has 6 core gpu where A18 has 5 core

Wouldn't it be even cooler to keep that 15 Pro another year rather than being an upgrade victim just for the sake of it?
I get it, BUT since I have gone without contract after buying the 14 pro outright, it makes more sense to ME to upgrade yearly now so I can take advantage of the most money for a trade in, all the while staying OUT of ATT's stupid contract.

When I went from 12PM to 14+, I thought it was the best thing ever - huge battery life (2x 14PM).

Loved the 14+ lightweight with Pro Max screen size but battery life trumps the 14PM. My work 14PM is way too heavy as I carry both phone on my waist all day 5 days a week.

Now after 2 years and a new EV car that needs AOD for the phone to work as a key, I am switching the 14+ to 16 Pro for AOD.

I'm probably going to do the same. Have a 15 PM now but did the pre pre-order for a 16 Plus in Ultramarine. The *only* thing I think I may miss is the 120Hz display, but I've had plenty of non Pro models in the past so I don't think it will bother me much. Just felt like I wanted something different this year.

I figure if I really miss the Pro, I only have to live with the non Pro for a year and I can upgrade again.
