I bought and activated a brand new ipad a week ago. Just updated to ios 7 and pages, etc is still showing up as $9.99 for me. Did I do something wrong? How do I get it for free since I purchased it after September 1?

Im going to go to the apple store and complain about this dead pixel on my screen.
get a new phone, set up as new phone ---> profit.

Still showing chargeable for me too.

New iPod purchased and activated two weeks ago.

Ok, so I just called Apple to inquire about this. If you purchased your device after September 1st you qualify for the free iwork suit. Their systems are being overloaded right now with it being ios 7's launch day. They should show up for free to downloaded in the next 1-2hrs apparently once their systems catch up. Just thought I'd pass this along to everyone else :)

Thanks Rustbuckle! Activated my new iPad last week and I was wondering why the iWork apps didn't show up as free in the App Store when I upgraded to iOS7 today. Hopefully later today they will!

Thanks bud! I was just going to post about this. Nothing yet on my end, but I can be patient,

So wait, I bought my iPhone 5 last year at launch and so I don't qualify for free iWork?

So it's been confirmed if you activated after Sept 1st on a compatible device you can get the iWork suite? I assume you MUST install iOS 7, correct?

I activated my iPad 4 on 9/8 so I should definitely be eligible, right?

Yeah you should be good!

Yup, you must be running iOS 7. :D

Will upgrading to iOS 7 work or do I need to fresh install?

Has anyone who has done what I am going to do had the iWorks come through as free yet?

You must have a new device purchased September 1st or after.

Edit: Just saw your previous post.

It shouldn't matter if you upgrade or do a fresh install. I'd imagine either would work. If not, definitely call Apple to inquire.

Late last night I OTA updated my iPad 4 to iOS 7. After the upgrade and during the welcome to iPad process, it did indeed offer me the free iWork apps. Remember my iPad was FIRST activated on 9/8.

One thing of note: I do NOT have the option to download them for free on my other device, namely my iPhone 5. They don't show up in my purchased apps and show up in the app store with prices.

As a follow up to my previous post, eventually iWork and iPhoto did show up in the App Store as free even though I wasn't prompted upon upgrading to iOS7. I guess it just took awhile for apple to update their servers to allow all devices activated after Sep 1 to download the apps for free.

If I unwrap a new device and set my I'd on it tomorrow I will get the apps free. I get that part. Now will those free apps show up on my iphone and other iPad I already own and have owned?

I installed the GM on my iPhone 5. Went to the app store on my phone. It prompted me install Ibooks and iWorks for free. Which included iPhoto. The odd thing though is it wants to charge me for apps I already paid for again. But if I install it from iTunes, it does not do that.

I had an issue with one of my buttons on my iPhone 5 which AppleCare replaced this past Tuesday (2 days ago).

I activated the new (replacement) iPhone 5 through iTunes and restored everything. Yesterday I updated to iOS7 (via iTunes) and on first boot up when I went into the App Store on the iP5 I was presented with a page saying that I can download the following Apple apps for free:

Pages
Numbers
Keynote
iPhoto
iMovie
Podcasts
Find My friends

I clicked the download button since it said "for free". It then automatically downloaded all 7 apps at once. I then went into iTunes account purchase history and it shows all 7 apps as purchased and free (no charge for anything).

Today I logged into my iPad 3 (still running iOS 6) and went into Purchases (App Store on iPad) and sure enough, all 7 apps are listed there as purchased and can be download (cloud button with down arrow). I just downloaded Pages to make sure it works and it's all working great.

So it is all tied to your Apple ID, and you'll be able to install any or all of those Apps for free on any of your other devices. At least that was the case for me.

Just as well, if they want to encourage people using the software, to allow them to use it across their ecosystem.
