There's something for everyone down at your local Apple Store
I have plenty of battery packs already. Don't need another one.

Honestly, I all I really wanted out of the iPhone 14 was USB-C. It could be the exact same phone as the iPhone 13, but with USB-C, and I would pay a $500 premium for it. It would be worth it to never have to deal with lightning cables ever again.

Been waiting for years. If I hadn't killed my current phone, I would wait another year. Oh well.

OMG. Actually having to touch the phone to view a notification. The worst! Luckily, once you view that notification you can interact with it telepathically. Really, the screen not being on is the only weak point.

Most people are lazy (too lazy to touch their phone) or OCD (they need to check for notifications every 3 seconds, or 100x/day) - but there are some legit use cases for this:

1). You have greasy nasty fingers because you're working on your car (etc.) and don't want to have to touch your phone to see if your wife has called you for lunch.

2). You're at lunch, eating something like fried chicken, and you don't want to have touch your phone with your greasy fingers, nor clean them first, just to check your phone for notifications.

3). You're in a situation where you want to see if you have notifications, but it would be bad form to touch your phone to check it (such as in a meeting, talking with someone, etc.).

That said - if Apple is so gracious as to allow you to turn this feature off, I will turn it off, unless I anticipate one of the scenarios above and then I may turn it on just for the duration of that scenario.

That's the main reason why I'm getting a 14 PM. I hate touching my screen all the time checking to see if I missed any calls or messages.
It will save me what feels like a hundred taps and tilts every day to check the time, weather, and notifications. And when charging my phone, I will not have to tap to see if it's full yet.

Always good to ridicule people because their priorities are different from yours 👍
Thats the new norm here at MR. Honestly, I don't understand why so many feel the need to post their preferences for a given feature without any reasonable reason. Does anyone really care what someone who we don't know indicates they do or don't like something? For any given feature, some will like it and some won't. There is hardly any intelligent discussion on MR anymore. I'm almost at the point of signing out and never wasting my time reading through thread after thread of petty bickering and no useful information. Do I really give a crap that Joe Schmoo is getting their phone at noon tomorrow. Absolutely not.

If you're curious how much of the Dynamic Island is unavailable for use by an app because of the True Depth camera here's a graphic from the ActivityKit documentation.

You better avoid the big thread where people are wetting themselves and acting as if they are on the plane coming from China.

Know someone in Canada you can have it shipped to, and have them reship it.

I ordered a phone from Apple Store on-line in Canada. I didn't have any issues paying for it with a US credit card, and listing my US Billing Address. But they drew the line on a shipping address. So I used a friend's (in Canada) address. Order went through no problem.

Once I ordered it, I was able to associate with with my US-based AppleID too - and it shows up when I go to the U.S. Apple Store, in my orders.
Thanks for the reply. Very helpful information. I’m expecting the sim card tray version to be well overpriced on eBay, so finding someone in Canada to ship to is a great option. Thanks again for the reply.

My iPhone 12 mini never seems to flicker. Neither did my iPhone 8, iPhone 6S, iPhone 5S, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, or iPhone 3G. Was I getting ripped off?
Only the iPhone 12 Mini would have flickered out of those phones, but 99% of people aren’t super perceptible to it.

First thing I'm checking out is making sure the always on display is turned on! Loved it on my Apple Watch and it should be dimmed on the iPhone like it is, not blacked out like Android.

I keep the always on turned off on the watch because it truly makes a big difference in battery life. e.g. when the display is always on, I end up with 10-20% by the end of the day whereas with the always on turned off I end up at 40-50%. I am hoping it is similar on the phone. The extra battery life would be nice. I might use it some, might not, but if it is like my watch, it might alter battery life noticeably.

We shall see :)

What’s the best way to purchase the Canadian version of the iPhone 14 pro and have it shipped to me in the States. Apple online support and in store support didn’t have an answer.

I have to have a physical SIM card version. No other choice at this point. Until things change in the developing nations I work in, I will not be able to use any Apple device that doesn’t have physical sim.
Why bother shipping it?

The Pro’s still have a SIM card slot.😜

The price difference between the US version and Canadian version of the same phone, a Pro Max w/512GB was about $250 (US). Most of that is due to Canadian taxes. Figure another $50 for your person in Canada to FedEx it to you - plus the risk of having to pay Customs Duties on top of that.

Yeah but the satisfaction of putting a SIM card into an iPhone 14 in front of a US Apple Store Genius? Priceless.

I am looking forward to taking a 48MP image and pixel peeping. I'll likely never take second one.

Besides simply wanting a SIM card, I ordered from Canada because last I checked 4 years ago, my employer didn't allow eSIMs. So, if I wanted a 14, I would have to carry two phones.

After ordering from Canada, I heard from my employer that now they DO allow eSIMS. So, that changes the calculus on paying an extra $500 for a phone (I ordered 1 1TB from Canada, a 512GB from the U.S.). Once I get my U.S. phone tomorrow, and once I have successfully established my work number on it, I will cancel the Canadian phone (which doesn't ship for another 5-6 weeks). As much as I want a physical SIM, I can't justify being that much more for it, since I have stage 4 cancer and will die kinda soon anyway. If not for THAT, I'd buy the Canadian phone for the extra money.

So, we'll see how it goes. Either way, pretty sure the iPhone 14 will be my last phone, UNLESS:

1). Apple produces a suitable USB-C phone next year
2). I live long enough to buy one.

Apple has failed you. They do not currently provide what you need. Time to use Android.
