Can you explain why you went from Moto X to Nexus 5? Just for KitKat or the high ppi screen?

I have gone back and forth between iOS and Android myself. First smartphone was an iPhone 3G, then I had a Droid X, then Galaxy S3. I purchased an iPhone 5s but returned it due to the noisy sleep/wake button (I am nuts, I know), and reactivatd the S3.

Now I'm considering the Moto X because I can stay on Verizon. If Verizon would allow the Nexus 5 I would mabye try that out as well.

But I'm also thinking of getting another iPhone, and hopefully getting one with no hardware issues. I really want the battery life and camera.

My perfect phone would be KitKat running on 5s hardware :)

Always been a Nexus fan for the pure android but the Moto X looked pretty cool so I tried it out while waiting for the N5 to be released. The Nexus 5 is huge in the hand so be careful. I would personally recommend the Moto X over the N5 if you are going Android. The Moto X is also running KitKat.

If anything, iOS 7 has 'kiddie'/kindergarten-type look with those icons than Android - it was one of the main complaints of iOS 7! It makes the OS look more like a child's toy with those icons. + iOS 7 seems more congested and less simplistic than Android because of the great wall of apps you generally see on the home screens.
I can totally agree with you about iOS 7 and the Fisher Price/PlaySkool design.

But I'm on iOS 6.1 and jailbroken. I've got a 5 icon springboard and dock (the better to have an icon in the center of the springboard) and my gui is styled the way I like it. I will do the same once they have a jailbreak for iOS 7.

I had the same feeling back when I had an S4. I was in Wisconsin visiting my dad's side of the family and they all had iPhone, every single person! I was like totally buggin'! After a weekend of that when I finally got back home I had to switch back. So I bought an iPhone 5C, I've been using an iPhone (before the S4) since the very first iPhone. So you can imagine what my iTunes library looks like! (14,500 tracks, 600 apps, 150 movies, 400 TV shows,).

Well I made the jump to iphone 4 6 or so months ago not knowing if I'd like iOS. I honestly thought if miss android but I don't one bit.

On November 2nd I was ready to make the most of my upgrade and chose the 5c.

Absolutely love it! I feel at home with iOS which 15-20 months ago I would have laughed on an iPhone owners face!

Don't you mean the other way round?

Bottom line is, it's down to personal preference. :)

I think he was talking about the fact that any given Android app icon could be larger, smaller, rounded edges, sharp edges, square, not square, high res, fuzzy.....you get the idea.

If Google simply required devs to standardize their app icons to the same size and high res, it would go a LONG way to making my N5's home screen look better. I get that I can switch to a different launcher and use a nice icon pack.....but it seems like all these options are out there to wow and woo people, but for those of us who actually PREFER it stock - we get the crap end. It took them years to finally make the stock email app usable. And I'm so thankful it is now.

Standardizing app icons isn't limiting choice. Just giving those of us who prefer the stock option the choice to have nice, neat looking home screens.

As for the "fisher price" colors of iOS.....that's been overstated so much around here. Does this look "fisher price" to you? Because I don't really think so....so what some of the icons are brightly colored? This looks way better than the randomly sized and mixed quality icon mess that is my N5....

My itch has been scratched! Happy to be back with iOS!

Welcome back!

Idk, I'm the only one in my workplace/extended family with an iPhone. My wife and I have been building an Apple ecosystem in our home, and I don't think I'll ever jump ship.

I've played with some android devices and I just don't get it. It all seems cumbersome and convoluted. I can never figure anything out, and it's all so ugly. And thats just the software...

I see much more oversaturated neon childish "randomly sized and mixed quality" mess on that iOS 7 screenshot than on any modern take on Android, including TouchWiz.

I can't understand how anyone can get an "itch" for a shoddy Android wannabe while using proper Android.

I honestly don't think I could go back to a Nexus or any Android phone after buying my 5S. I think everything, especially the apps, are just so much more superior and yes, I am comparing the same apps on iOS as on the Android side.

After a year of using Androids, many of the same apps that I installed a year ago, still have no tablet version for my Nexus 7. They are identical to what I had on my Nexus 4. That alone is worth staying on iOS.

Going from an iPhone to android is like going from being treated like a king to being treated like a nobody.

By that I mean every single iPhone model, even older ones are treated with the utmost care by developers and Apple, apps are always well optimized and fully compatible.

Now compare that to Android, I tried the new Nexus 5 and even the freaking YouTube app wasn't working properly! (Framerate in videos was horrendous)

And this is on the latest flagship on a Google app...

Overall there's a total disconnect in the android ecosystem between apps and phones and android versions.

Used Android for 3 years, but posted here and read about the iPhone all the time... now using an iPhone and don't give a hoot about Android.

I like both OSes but iOS is far superior IMO.

Getting the itch again...

In many ways iOS is far superior. I do love the open source system android has, like for example any media app can be designated as default, from any media or work suit app on android it is possible to send, post directly to for instance (FB, Evernotes, Twitter, etc), iOS only has FB, Twitter, Flicker and Vimeo (built-in), but with android any app that can take advantage of this function will be automatically added to the respective media or work suit app to give the user the option, in iOS it is not so. I like both OSes. I prefer iOS hands down.
