Looks like it could probably fit if you stretch it, but that's not ideal. Then throw in the fact that not every 15" MBP is the same size and that's probably the difference. Your model is 0.95 x 14.35 x 9.82 compared to a 2014 at 0.71 x 14.13 x 9.73. Might just be enough of a difference to fit in that case.
So did the seller lie to you? No, most likely not. It's probably very snug on the model year its intended to fit and just barely doesn't fit yours. I'd simply return it saying it doesn't fit your model. I had the same thing buying a backpack off Amazon recently. Reviews said it fit a 15.6" laptop, but I got it and it just barely didn't fit my Lenovo - or it could if I stretched it, but that's not ideal. Returned it and got another backpack, no big deal.

I was actually expecting a bit better padding on the inside. I have a 15" retina display macbook pro and there's a lot of room for it to move around even with a bunch of stuff in the side pocket.
Other than that, it's got a nice rough design and so far it has held up the abuse of being in my backpack for school.

I loved the look of this case and the pocket on the case, but the 13 inch case looked and fit my computer like a 15 inch case would. I was very disappointed that my computer could slide around. It looks awesome and everything, but I didn't like how my mac wasn't snug.

The case it, however, a little thick when empty. It means that the protection is good, but my previous basic incase case was thinner and still protected well. The other thing I like a little less about it is that the fit with a MacBook Pro is still slightly loose. The computer can move around a bit, but it's not a big concern for me.

This is the case i recommend to friends buying a Macbook Air, in addition to the carrying the air, it can also hold an iPad and kindle in the additional pocket. Some reviewers dont like that its a little loose. I've never really noticed that, to me that's a small price for having the side pocket, which I always cram with stuff.
A seller who sold to me didn't accept my refund offer,
I have also retina 15" (the pic was about case with non retina 2011 early,)
but it is also not fit and, if i tried it, it would stretched
So I thought that is it 15" pouch?
Soon, i will also add my pic with 2013 late MBP15"(me294kh/a)
Thanks, regard,
