I'd prefer Babylon 5 universe over both of them, but I guess Star Wars universe wouldn't be that bad, either.

The simple life of a non-tech world like Middle Earth is definitely appealing but I do enjoy the conveniences of modern life like toilet paper, indoor plumbing, ice, refridgerated food, and electricity.

It is definitely a tough question and I think I would have to choose Middle Earth because the people there seemed to have more fun and didn't take themselves nearly as seriously as those of a galaxy far, far away. Plus New Zealand is beautiful.

Middle Earth, no question. Now that I know where the one ring is, I could find it, become all powerful, and rule the world - moowhahaha!

Neither; Star Trek, with holodecks for Middle Earth and Star Wars. But I'd spend most of my time in Middle Earth.

One vote for Star Wars here...

Whacking Jar Jar Binks with a baseball bat could be my full time job there :)

I'd get a nice remote planet in the Star Wars universe AFTER the fall of the empire. That way I'd be safe from having my home blown up and it would be nice to live on, maybe Naboo would be good.

Heh. You might want to read the Yuzan Vong series before making this wish. They are so bad, they make the Emperor look like the neighborhood nut.

Hmmm, I already live in Middle Earth. I guess if I had to choose I would want to be a Jedi in Middle Earth.

Wikipedia Tells me that they are like the inverse of the borg (without assimilation). Sounds kinda nasty. Maybe Middle Earth ain't sooo bad after all.

This question all depends on who you get to be :)

I'd love to be a Ranger of middle earth. Bad ass guys that get to see the world, are trusted by all the right people (Elves mostly) and being human gets them along well with a few others as well. As far as getting an elf chick, I think it's proven that you have to be a Man of Numenorian blood for the chicks to even take you half way seriously ;-)

Star Wars could be fun. But too many opportunity for someone to shoot you in the back before you know what's going on(or destroy your planet). At least in TLOTR you have a good chance of facing your assailant, or running away :)

Though riding one of those speed bikes (name?) through the jungles has always looked helah fun to me :D

You guys are weird...

Says the man spending his Friday posting on a tech forum, and spending it telling other people what he thinks they are.

World of Warcraft :p i practically live there already some days.

I like this answer as I have spent 40 days of my life in that world. :p

I would, however, choose Middle Earth by a long shot. Chilling with some magic and babealicious elves. Who needs technology? :D

I dunno, each has some great aspects.
The middle earth would be fun, you could war with swords, magic, and other great stuff, whereas the SW universe would rock. Being able to pilot a fightercraft? Mmmm.

I think that if I had to choose, I'd probably go with the SW uni. Probably fight the war in an X-Wing and join up with a smuggler ring.

Wow... that sounds nerdy.

:)
Bit of a Friday discussion going on at work (yes, things are slooow)

Which 'era' would you rather live in, and reasons ?

Middle Earth; simpler times, great looking elves, bit of magic going down

or

Star Wars Universe; tech aplenty, star destroyers, x-wings, Millenium Falcon, Jedi powers

And no, you can live on a Middle Earth planet in the SW Universe as an elven x-wing pilot for the Rebellion :D :D

Middle earth. there are not enough women in the star wars universe (aside from among the Ewoks).
