I always prefer glass but it's not so easy to recycle here so I understand why it's not used so much.

(the orange recycling bags the councils give you specifically state not to put glass in there)

Seriously? My council didn't give us a recycling bin but a series of plastic boxes. The idea is that you divide the box up with little dividers and then put lots of stuff in it. Our block has one for glass bottles, one for plastic, one for cans and one for paper/cardboard. It's the only reason I bother recycling glass since without a car, there's no way I'd hike it to the nearest depot.

Nothing like a glass bottle of Irn Bru. :D

Oooh.... yeah. Used to love em and taking it back to the shop for your 10p :p

I like glass, it's classier. But I can't stand drinking soda straight from a can, way too much carbonation. But I guess the point is moot since I've given up soda.

I prefer Glass over Plastic, I love how the drink tastes in glass, to me.. glass is better than plastic. Beer in plastic is disgusting.

I've been craving a glass bottle of Coke for a few months now, and I just discovered one of the local supermarkets is starting to sell Glass bottle cokes, I was quite pleased so I bought some :)

Bottle on the left is a bottle from Mexico, and bottle on right is a bottle in Canada, the bottles in Canada are slightly taller

This thread was just a few hours away from being a year old ;)

Glass.

In Mexico (at least when I went) they had it in glass everywhere. The soda was SOOO good down there. There's a few places I've found it in glass here, like the carneceria, and I pick one up when I go there. It just tastes better.

^^^

That's likely because soda is made using pure cane sugar in almost everywhere except the corn-obsessed United States, where it is made from high fructose corn syrup.

If anyone's interested, Costco sells Coke in glass bottles imported from Mexico, and it's so much better than what we're used to. Incidentally, Costco also sells Coca-Cola in glass bottled imported from Mexico.

I try to have either beer or water in glass - I can't remember the last time I had canned beer (but it tasted funny I remember)..

Not much for soda. I've got nice teeth and want to keep them that way.

I don't really drink soft drinks, so I'll answer this for beer. I always drink bottled beer, never in a can, so I selected glass.

I do drink lots of bottled water (which is plastic), but that's only because I've never seen it as glass. I buy a 6-pack of bottled water and then refill them for about a month, then I throw them out and start over fresh.

I guess you're not a coffee drinker either. That's my one weakness at work in the morning.

Glass

I go for glass. I don't even use my microwave anymore the gladwrap leaches into the food and I don't think it breaks down plastic is ......up the environment.
