I'm getting weird graphics bugs on my built-to-order 13" TBmbp

Is anyone else seeing these problems? What are the chances this will be fixed by the next macos update?

I love the new machine otherwise, and I'm worried if I send it back I'll be put at the back of the queue and need to wait until christmas for a replacement.

The key spacing on the touch bar isn't supposed to line up with the physical key spacing, unless I misunderstood your statement.

The escape key still works, even though it disappears due to the touch bar running out of room.

As to the other things you mention, it is not real clear (at least to me) what you are trying to do do, and what you are saying. It sounds like you are mumbling.

The video makes it pretty clear, his is having rendering issues, I haven't seen it before from anyone else, I'd say it's defective.

I know he said rendering issues. But, he was moving fast and was hard to understand.

The escape key disappearing happens to me and I know several others here have mentioned it. The key spacing I mentioned is the same for me as well. I don't know about the other.

I don't think sending the Mac back and getting another one will solve the problem. Looks to be software related to me.

No he wasn't moving fast nor was he hard to understand. In the video you can clearly see the misalignment of the brightness controls and later in the video, as he said and pointed to, the "raise volume" button disappears completely. Also, he is not talking about the spacing not lining up with the physical buttons as you said, look at the virtual bookmark tabs he is pointing at, the sizing of them is weird with basically 2 different sizes on the same tab, and the YouTube and Wikipedia tab are not full height like they should be.

Anyway, maybe this is something Apple can fix in an update, but weird if it only affect a few because so far, i have not seen alot of people claiming they have the same issue. Do you live near an Apple store so they can take a look at it?

Don't presume to tell me that I didn't have a hard time understanding him or seeing what he was doing clearly. Just because you didn't have a problem doesn't mean I didn't.

I didn't mean my comment as an attack, I just thought you missed what he was showing or misinterpreted it, however the more recent comment was uncalled for from the other member, imho.

We seem to agree it's defective, sorry man, call up Apple...

Sorry for mumbling. It might be clearer if you don't listen to the sound in the video, just look at the touch bar itself. It has pretty obvious small rendering issues, where random components or parts of components simply disappear sometimes. Its super clear near the end when I move my finger along the emojibar toolbar - the toolbar buttons shouldn't be appearing and disappearing.

I can take it to an apple store, but I don't think the apple store here in sydney even has any display models yet. They've almost certainly not seen this problem before. What can they do other than giving me my money back and putting me at the end of the ordering queue for a replacement? If I wait and run down the 2 weeks, will they still replace it with a brand new model?

If its a software issue a new laptop won't fix the problem, and they might fix it in an upcoming patch. I bet apple is working around the clock to fix a bunch of software bugs *they* know about with the new machines.

I'll give support a call. That might be the best bet.

If you bought the Mac on 11/10 or after, the return policy is extended until 1/8.
If you call support, they can log into your Mac and run diagnostics. More than likely, they will suggest reinstalling the OS, trying a a reset or two, or offer you a replacement.

First and foremost, I would file a bug report. Then make your call.

Don't worry about your voice. I appreciated the video for what it was meant to show and expose.

I tried to replicate all the things you did....I couldn't produce any glitches and hadn't noticed any up till now. I think you should send that back and get a replacement....yes you may have to wait a few weeks but better to wait a few weeks than put up with a computer that Apple may not even know how to fix for awhile considering how new the TB is.

Update: I filed a radar issue and called apple support. The support guy got me to reboot, which (at least for now) has stopped the glitching. I'm a little embarrassed I didn't do that before calling.

I'm still not sure if its a software or a hardware thing. If I'm going to get a replacement I'd rather that happen soon so I don't have to play the moving-all-my-files game. But if its a software problem it might just fix itself when 10.12.2 lands. :/

I'll update this thread if it starts happening again.

In fairness it doesn't look like what I'd expect from a hardware issue - my money is on software issue that you were just unlucky enough to encounter. It's rare enough that other people haven't seen it yet, hence why rebooting has made it behave.

I wouldn't worry about replacing the laptop. If it was a hardware issue I reckon it'd be much more funky than what you were seeing.

It's good to show what's happening, but you're in such a hurry to show it all, you skipped over the parts that were actually a problem, remake it, and point out the actual issues, don't just mention them in passing.

There it is, happening again. I suspect that it'll go away next time I restart. The most recent thing I did on my computer was disconnect a couple 27" external displays which were connected over USB-C-to-displayport adapters. I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with graphics ram, though it does survive putting the machine to sleep.

Maybe other people aren't experiencing it just because not enough people are connecting external displays yet? Hm.

I have similar issue as yours. The touch bar does not display correctly. The following is a video.
