I wish I was excited for my store pick-up. The closest store to me is about an hour and 15 minutes away. I was off Friday so figured I'd do pick-up rather than wait until UPS delivered around 6PM but the Apple store app crapped out on me pre-order morning and kept freezing. By the time I got through my model wasn't available and shipping was already October 10-17th. Store about two and half hours away had it so I grabbed it but not looking forward to the drive.

Picking up 8am tomorrow as soon as the Sydney store opens in Australia!

I have 4 cases ready (Umber, Forest Green, Elderberry and clear case)
Yay! I love when you pick up stuff: you're so good about sharing!

I especially want to see the clear case on that phone! :)

My Ink leather case is sitting there at the Apple Store, waiting for my phone to show up. :) I’m waiting for my phone to show as well. One more full day now.
It's nice that you and your case are waiting together...separately.

Just hope the pickup time window shows back one. I currently don’t have one, which I did upon order. Just says the 16th. My wife’s doesn’t even have a date even though hers was the 16th on order, it says null
Way to add some drama to launch day. Think you could show up anytime and be like dude you didn't give me a time, just a date, and here I am on the date. :)

This is my first time ordering for release day. I usually wait a month or two, just in case there are any issues, and then I'm playing iPhone Roulette with other members here. I'm kind of regretting picking store pickup because this turned out to be a busy week at work and not sure if I'll have to time to run to the Apple Store and come back within my lunch break.
Since this is your first time, I hope you're enjoying all the excitement of not knowing and discovering as everybody else does.

If it works, maybe you can just pick up the phone at lunch and set it up later...for dinner?

I have a 12:30 time for my 256gb PM. Any chance I’ll be able to pick up sooner?
You can try. I've done that and had some Apple people say no problem. Other times, they were like your time is 9:30, I can't give it to you at 9:15.

Ah, I just checked the website. It looks like for Friday only, they have special store hours for the launch. That's why the open an hour early. My pickup appointment is the first thing.
That's gonna be so awesome. There's something about getting to a store and having it go crazy while all the other stores are sleeping like they don't even know it's iPhone day.

I am just the opposite. Always get home delivery but after the App Store glitches, my date had slipped to October. Luckily I have 6 stores close to me and they all had stock. Will be picking up after work on Friday.

Miss tracking my package but I also don’t miss having the ups truck drive by and not drop off your package lol.
Preach! That's why I now do in-store pick-up. I remember a couple times being so exhausted from anticipation by the time the phone arrived near the end of the day. Now I know exactly when to get excited.

That sounds frustrating.

Sounds like you're gonna need to catch up on phone calls, podcasts, audiobooks--maybe make a playlist for the occasion!

Thankfully, I have the option to request a UPS CC hold so I don't actually have to wait for the UPS truck driver to come. Most cases they always come to my area after 5.

Back in the days when serial number wasn't randomized. I noticed a pattern that Apple store tends to have August build where as pre-order home delivers were more hot off the press recent builds. Personally I prefer more recent builds over ones made in August. But that's all personal preference i guess. But of course this year is likely all August.

As you might have guessed by the set of [avatar] waves, I just finished something and had a chance to check the thread. I'm delighted for everybody.

I'm going to pretend like I don't have that bit of information. :)

But clever deduction and good choice.

Will definitely have to prepare mentally for the drive. I’ll take any suggestions for podcasts ya got😂
Oooo.

Infinite Monkey Cage if you like science and comedy.

RadioLab is pretty good for just investigation and analysis of events and ideas.

True Spies—about exactly what it sounds like—can be really intriguing.

I once drove 6 hours to Kansas City to buy one of the last 2013 Mac Pros I could find at a MicroCenter in 2020. Long drives suck, but when you finally get what you wanted, the feeling is 100% rewarding. Get some good rest the night before and better leave early if you can. Best of luck to ya

Are you guys in the USA?
Website is telling me to check on 9/16 for store pick up.

I didn't know they had special hours for launch day. I would have gladly picked up my phone at 8:00am. I think I was just surprised that my closest Apple Store was even open. They had been closed for about a month (maybe even longer because I haven't been over there in a a while) so I thought it was a glitch at first.

My status just changed from “null” to “Available for Pick Up Sep 16”

Although it’s still not displaying my time slot.
