Ron Johnson announced he was leaving Apple for JC Penny in June before Steve stepped down as CEO. Jon Rubinstein and Tony Fadell also left Apple when Steve was CEO. Those are three top executives that played integral roles in what Apple is today. Did anyone think the ship was sinking then?

People thrive on negative stuff.

I think this guy wasn't cutting it, so 5 months and goodbye.

Why would anybody let a really really good executive go?

Didn't announce any of the usual: to pursue other interests BS, taking a major job in...... etc.

Steve Jobs was great at keeping his best people. It worries me that some of these people might leave now. Let's hope that Cook can inspire them to stay long-term.

hehe. He's a top a executive.

Appreciate you not taking the troll bait these idiots are posting. Nice to see you aren't stooping to their level.

hahaha

Tim Cook killing off people who are linked to competitors for the CEO chair?

Or an executive who doesn't want to work under Cook?

Or Cook who doesn't want to work with Theriault because he wants a different person there?

That guy came from Pfizer. It always amazed me how people work in a company producing dishwasher liquid one day, and then switch to a tech company the next. Is security work for a pharmaceutical company so comparable to security for a computer and gadget company?

I don't know what you mean. Are you being sincere?

Jobs recruited John Sculley from Pepsi - a beverage company to work for Apple a tech company. Surely THEY aren't similar industries...

Just...a thought crossed my mind.

Anyone think SJ would have Ever become US president if he lived on?

He must be having issues if he is leaving. Everybody in the world wants to work for Apple.

Did anyone read the article?

While the reasons for Theriault's departure and his destination appear to be unconfirmed, speculation naturally turns toward this summer's loss of another iPhone prototype. Apple has received some criticism over its handling of the case, which involved Apple security personnel being escorted by San Francisco police to a home to where the device had been traced. Apple's security personnel conducted an unsuccessful search of the home, with the homeowner claiming to have believed that they were police officers and not private security agents.

Just a shot in the dark, but that might be a reason for his departure right there. Apple has this habit of keeping the best people. Looks like Theriault no longer belonged in that echelon, because he was lousy at his job. People usually get canned for that, you know.

Theriault, a former FBI agent and Pfizer vice president, was profiled just two months ago for his role overseeing Apple's anti-counterfeiting efforts. That work has taken on increased importance with the proliferation of fake Apple products and even fake Apple retail stores popping up in a number of countries.

If it's taken on "increased" importance, Theriault might not have been up to the task. A decision was probably made as a result.

We already know that Cook is doing some re-shuffling, promotions, and general house-cleaning. These activities were so conspicuous that there were numerous articles about it over the web a few days back. Maybe Theriault just got tossed into the dustbin.

Next!

A guy that was VP of GLOBAL security and very likely had nothing to do with the areas that would have been involved in this iPhone to-do that has yet to be confirmed as accurate.

Yep this is definitely macRUMORS

If he is important enough to be on the headline (well, sort of), then he's quite important in Apple..

This is definitely worrying....

He's leaving because he's a ****-up.

I'd say that's a pretty good reason.

I know John and I can assure you he's done very well for himself. You dont get recruited to as VP of GS being a ****-up

Proselytizing your unwavering apple allegiance from your mom's basement in Canada isn't what I would call success. ;)

Looks like he broke the law.

Or at least bent it pretty good, probably by leveraging his connections to get the police to cooperate in an unwarranted search of a journalist's apartment, as well as confiscation of his equipment.
It's quite obvious he was terminated as a consequence of his steamroller-style handling of the mishap. Anybody who hires this loose cannon after this episode is an idiot.

Oh, you know him? Good. Ask him why he got ****-canned. I'd be interested to know how the visionary security VP spins it.

Or if you REALLY want to know, ask Tim Cook.

Leo Apotheker's done very well for himself too. Up until recently. I wonder how fat his severance from HP was after he screwed the pooch.

Some of these execs are a dime-a-dozen - one wonders how the hell ever some of them got their jobs, though I'm sure they're lovely people to have over for coffee.

Probably given the boot with the rumored strong-armed tactics that occurred? Gave a blemish to the big Apple.
