Cell phones are replaced and outdated/obsolete within a few years, as the Apple Watch will be. Quality watches last decades, big difference.

And that's where they're going with the Edition models. Dropping $10,000-17,000 on an Edition knowing it'll quickly become obsolete in a few short years scream "I have money!" just as much as a $150,000 Patek that you buy once.

A quality watch will last decades, even generations and can be passed down. An Apple Watch will not. Huge difference and no comparison. Apples to oranges.

That's beside the point. Apple is suggesting Switzerland is in trouble in the long run because today's young people who get themselves hooked on the Apple Watch (and can't function without it like many of us when it comes to the iPhone) may consider a new Edition model every year rather than invest in a Patek when they're able to afford it.

And real garbage too. I do really like my Milanese. I know it's overpriced too. It is really nice tho.

:p

True, but I'm sure one of them will make a better strap for a much cheaper price. Like most name branded stuff, with Apple, we're mostly paying for the name. They talk a good game, but there stuff is massed produced like everything else.

All depends on the type of young people. I live near the beach in southern California where a young girl or guy wouldn't be caught dead driving anything less than a 5 series BMW or wearing anything that doesn't start with the name Louis, Christian or Giorgio who view an Apple Watch as a kids toy. They are insufferable. Besides, as people mature, their tastes change. Sure, a 24 year old kid working an entry level job might love an Apple Watch and driving a Scion. That same guy at 45 will want a Range Rover and a Rolex.

LOL

So two different things

1. It always makes me laugh when I see people who's immediate response is "money changed hands, and I have no frame of reference for quality but I'm not happy". Watch bands for nice watches are expensive. Getting the bands swapped out on any nice watch will cost you as much as the Apple Watch bands.

2. Apple has always been great about swapping things out like this. I'd take it to the Apple Store. If they can't swap it out now I'm sure they can make a note on your serial number tho get a replacement band as soon as the service part comes in.

It sucks that this happened. My Apple Watch 42 with Classic Leather Band hasn't even shipped yet, and my order closed within 8 minutes of going live. Considering how few Classic Leather Bands I've seen posted about compared to others this could very well be one that got out of the warehouse without being thoroughly checked.

Not if they find themselves too reliant on the Watch and can't function without it, in which case they'll drive a Range Rover and rock the Edition model instead of a Rolex. Being able to drop $10K-17K on something that'll quickly go obsolete also sends a very strong message in terms of showing off wealth.

Have you used the AW yet? its not a device you can't live without by a long shot. A cell phone is a device most can't like without. The AW is just basically a way to glance down and see what texts or emails come in and no decent way to even reply to them without grabbing your phone. Its hardly a device one can't live without.

Trust me, people will develop a strong reliance on it and it'll be in the same category as a device you can't function without.

Not based on early reviews around here, mine included. We are the ones who wouldn't be able to live without it, the tech junkies on the bleeding edge, and reviews are mixed at best. The average user can for sure live without this, especially given its price point. Its not some $199 purchase, its close to a grand and well into the thousands for what is essentially a gimped iOS device. My iPod touch can do more. I have an iMac, iPad, MacBook, iPod touch and an Apple TV. The AW is the only major Apple product I feel I can absolutely live without and won't be owning.

It's not been long enough for anyone to develop a dependance on it and it'll only become more useful in the future with better app support and added functions. Short-term reviews aren't a good indication for such a reliance.

I agree OP.

You paid for band that shouldn't have part of the manufacturing process visible.

Anyone here that thinks you are petty would definitely have a hissy fit if their phone had some glue visibly creeping from an edge.

Doesn't matter the price. Apple is a company that advertises design and excellence in its products, and when they don't achieve this 100% with every item, they do need to know and rectify the discrepancy.
