Sort of. You can forward your old gmail.com to the new domain account. And I think there is a way to use the new domain account to 'send as' the old gmail account.

You don't need to pay Google to do that. Just create a free icloud email account and forward your gmail to that which will push to the native app. You can even setup the return email to come from your gmail account.
