I use Gmail for years now with no issues nor concerns That bother me at all. Some you you guys go way overboard sometimes
You must also be on Facebook :)

I use Gmail for spam. I no longer use Google services for personal stuff. It does bother me the amount of data they collect and the money they make off me doing so. I am not a product and I am already subjected to enough advertising to kill a herd of cows. Everywhere I look, ADS ,ADS, ADS! No thanks.

One has nothing to do with the other. To lump them together shows a lack of understanding of the data they collect and what they do with it.

Shaming people isn't the way. That's just Apple speak (and from a company with numerous public blunders ***** over the customer unapologetically).

Facebook's privacy breaches are FAR more egregious on their own scale from anything Google does.

Does the privacy nutrition label list things that Will be taken from the user or things that can Potentially be taken through user consent? It’s confusing.
And does using the stock Mail app actually help keep things more ‘private’?
They are things that will be taken if you start using the app. Your in-app usage patterns will be kept private if you use Apple Mail. The emails themselves on Gmail servers will have the same privacy regardless of using the Gmail app or the Apple Mail app.

I mean, we know Google apps would have egregious privacy policy. So why delay the inevitable?
Since these kind of things tend to open up big companies to lawsuits, lawyers probably need to audit the apps to make sure the labels are accurate. Considering how interconnected a lot of Google apps are, the delay is not a big surprise.

I have to chuckle at all this conspiracy stuff for the Gmail app. It's a front end. Anything you do to your Google Mail account via whichever front end, Alphabet still know via your email account and any links you trigger that it was done.
Unless you think Apple downloads your entire Google Mail Apple server side and that is what you are interacting with?

Nothing has changed other than a bunch of new vague labels in the app store.

Congratulations on not caring at all about your privacy, some of us do and choose to try and minimize our risk.

Google adds iOS' app privacy labels to Gmail; here's what ...' app privacy labels to Gmail; here's what ...
A friend of mine, with an Ivy League scientific PhD and national science awards.

him: i don’t use iCloud because i don’t want my in the cloud.

Me: …

Also him:
I use WhatsApp but don’t give it access to my contacts.

Me: you do realize that they have your contacts because they uploaded their contacts including you to WA, right?

him: …

LoL.

Nope, Google was even reading your emails in the beginning in order to glean information about you. Due to pressure, they stopped doing that, but that is a good example of the length they will go to put their business ahead of their customers.

Google products and services are super reliable, so they earn a lot of respect based on that. But don't mistake reliability for honourability.
That is why the Google Assistant is the most superior product on the market. My Personal opinion is as long as my data is not compromised I'm cool with it.

I just wish this app would respect my labels from the gmail web interface. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Without ads, there would be no internet bruh

Literally every business ever and the majority of EVERYONE. What fantasy world are you living in?

I was referring to my every day email. I see nothing wrong with Gmail. I didn’t mention anything about businesses lol. If it’s your business go with something more private if you so chose.

No FREE internet, but yes. Every site would look like the NYT; pay monthly for access

I agree. And almost as many companies use G-Suite as Office 365 now. It's about 48/45% split. Exchange no longer rules the world.

Some notable ones using G-Suite
  • Uber
  • Airbnb
  • Netflix
  • Pinterest
  • Spotify
  • Twitter
  • Instacart
  • Robinhood
Not big companies with company secrets or anything...

It seems 2020-21 is the birth of making something up, or a mere opinion, and present it as fact.

Bro, I don't know why people be hating on google. I don't care if you are a die hard apple user, you are using at least 1 of Googles products. For this who say they don't, I hope I never see you on YouTube

Google has superior Software (period)

Your post is accurate AF 👍🏽

I am a heavy YouTube user. Also use Gmail and google search at least once a day. People hate on Google, yet I know still use their services. They use google because their software is just good.

Plain old google search voice works far better and quicker than sir too.

> Push notification.

Good point, but I only use Gmail as spam bin, so push notification doesn't really matter.

For the people that are slamming gmail here, what email service are you using? (I cannot imagine everyone here is using something like Proton mail?)

Exactly you do you and everyone should do them. Listening to what other people think is silly. This app label is not some new revelation of how Google operates their business.

There are 1.8 BILLION Gmail users without Google allowed in China. There are 7.67 billion in the world and 1.4 billion in China. So 1.8 billion accounts for 6.27 billion people, which includes yug kids who may not have email.

Basically, 25% of the adult world give or take.
Yup you are right. I’m currently trying to figure out how to move away from Gmail & shut down Facebook & Twitter that I don’t use anymore.

Which court will be the one forcing Apple to create privacy info cards for their own apps? This will be great.
I don’t think it will take a court to make them. Probably someone will sue because they are not there, and Apple will add it’s own labels: We don’t collect any user information unless that user agrees to share analytic info with us, which is then randomized so direct user data is unknown to Apple.
