I don't think they give users more invites too often. I got two when I first signed up two or three weeks after it came out and I've only gotten one more batch of invites since, which is when I noticed three more sitting there a week or so ago. None left though, sorry.

yup, yup, me too. I submit to this cheap ploy to manufacture demand! Seriously, just because I recongize the marketing tactic, it doesn't mean that I'm not willing to submit to it.

Well they are giving the invites out. I got 3 , some days back. Got 5 again today. Too bad, just saw this thread. I would have given all 5 here. Anyways I have one left, and I am giving it to the first post then.

whats your email address einstenium?

cheers

Looks like they are having temporary server errors with new account sign-ups, existing accounts can send and receive with no problems.

Their system might not be coping with the latest round of invites (and subsequent sign-ups) that have been sent out

my bad... i had 6 new invites this morning and used them up. next time i get some i will post a thread... i think you have to wait about 1-2 weeks after opening an account before you get your first set of invites

Gmail! Gmail! Gmail!

That's a request for an invitation, by the way. I've read that Blogger users have been getting invitations, so I started a blog, and I'm going to blog my ass off until I get one. If, however, someone has an invite that he or she would like to share, I'd be greatly appreciative and much obliged to send on any I receive. Thanks much!

I went to gmailswap.com and offered an origami boulder (aka a crumpled piece of paper) for a gmail account. I got one about 5 minutes later. So ya know... if you really want one you might wanna check that out.

I bet if you offer to send somebody a blank sheet of paper via fax you could get one.

This afternoon gmail's servers are still closed to new users... the tension is unbearable! :)

Now people, pay attention. If we're going to do this right, you need to edit your message once you've received an invite, so multiple people aren't inviting the same person. Basically a way of crossing your name off the list...

I just got a gmail account today. Is anybody else having trouble logging in? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I often get a javascript pop up telling me to try again later. I know it's in Beta so I'm not using it as my primary e-mail but is this a fluke of the day or is this how it's been since launch? Just curious.

As soon as I get invites I'll do the same and post them here, how often have you guys had to wait before getting invites to send? We wanna get everyone on board! :)

Google and gmail have been flaky for me all morning today. I'm thinking that akamai is under attack again or something, but it could just be a google problem. Once I finally got into gmail, it seems to be working fine.

I've sent out 2 gmail invites so far to folks on this thread. I've offered it to 2 more but I'm waiting to hear from them. To any new gmail users: You may want to wait a day or so to sign up if google is still slow.

Anyone have an open-source Gmail-to-POP3 gateway for the Mac yet? I want to be able to check gmail from within OS X's Mail.app.

Anyone know if there are different types of Gmail accounts? Just wondering as one of my friends has an account and next to his email address at the top is the link "report a bug", yet on my account I don't have this?

Do you guys have the report a bug link as well?

Yeah, no thanks, I'll just pay my $20 a year for 2GB and POP access to Yahoo, no ads at all. It's far better than GMail will be able to handle.
