is there a way to create an alias as long as it hasn't been taken? ie. use jelloshotsrule@gmail.com but then have an alias such that johndoe@gmail.com points to it?
Gmail has forwarding allowed in Settings, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use that. Then all email received by the johndoe@gmail.com address would automatically be forwarded to your jelloshotsrule@gmail.com account.

As long as you don't need any other functionality that should take care of it. I think that is all an alias does anyway, right? It doesn't affect outboud email in any way, does it?

Hello,

A friend of mine , wbhambone on MR, has a gmail account but does not have any invites to dole out. If anyone has an invite they don't know what to do with :D I would be appreciative of an invite. Please let me know what do to in return, like do I invite someone from this thread once I am invited and receive the ability to invite?

Ha, did I say invite too much in that last rant.

Thanks,

RD

sorry to be dumb, but i assume this would require nabbing two accounts? i didn't know if that was legit or not...

you're right though, it doesn't affect outbound. i'm just looking to have two ways to tell people they can get to me (i don't want *everyone* knowing my real name, but i want to have that for easy remembering)... as of now, i have jelloshotsrule@gmail. so i guess i just send myself an invite, sign up as realname@gmail and then have that forward to the other, or vice versa....

sorry to complicate this. hah

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH

You all know that Google is now public and you can get an account without an invite?

If you want an account, simply type in your cell number - a code will be sent via TXT to your phone and you type the code in a box and your account is made.

Some people may not have mobile phones. Odd that they have you do it that way, I wonder why? Are they worried about bots soaking up accounts. I thought those goofy "enter the letters in this box" stuff took care of that.

Oh well...

Also this only works for US residents. Why?? Not sure?? But those w/o cells or out of the US can send me a PM and I will get you an invite.
