There's always at least one of these comments in a Google related thread. And they are always wrong on how Google makes its money.
Yes, but it *can* be said that they don't make their money *protecting* your privacy. Which is an attribute I give Apple credit for, and I hope many more companies will join them.

You might as well invite strangers to conference in on your phone calls, while you're at it.

That’s why I love my iPhone. It saves me the time of inviting the strangers and just lets them listen to my real world conversations at their leisure.

Note: I’m just being snarky cause the timing of this comment was funny to me. I don’t think any tech company is innocent and I don’t think any are malicious enough to tank their stock either. The real issue with these companies having data is hacks and bugs and Apple has proven to be immune to neither.

They kind of do make money protecting your privacy by not sharing or selling identifiable data. Many companies will actually sell your data, like cell phone companies directly selling your location. That's not Google, they only indirectly sell your data by providing targeted advertising. One reason why many people use Google is because they trust Google to protect their data.

Plus, they give you the tools to remove your data that they have collected, should you want it.

This is one of the worst ever apps for email I’ve used

If you have a conversation email, it’s sometimea so hard to find a random email from withbthe conversation

Added to that the scrolling right to the bottom for an attachment. But I am glad they’re changing that.

Pot calling the kettle...?

Could easily ask you the same thing, but forums are for sharing opinions. Threads are like guideposts. They help steer a discussion, but they don’t act like solid walls.
This is BS imo. Every thread Google related has someone posting about google and privacy and they would never use their services blah blah blah. Then that comment leads to an argument of what Google does and doesn't do then how much better Apple is with privacy.

Sure, if you like reading the same arguments in every Google thread then I agree with your statement. But then the actual thread topic never really gets discussed after the first 2 pages.

If the thread topic was "Google finds the cure for all types of cancer" you can bet it's going to turn into a Google and privacy thread and if they had cancer they wouldn't want the cure because privacy.

I'm helping to derail the thread as well :).

It gets old.

My data is more secure with Google than it is with Apple. As we've seen time after time.

Your view is flawed... With digital information you not only need to have a historical view of what Google as done with the data you've given to them, but a future view of what they may do with that data. Remember, digital information never degrades or rots and lasts forever. Additionally, Google owns the information you've uploaded so even if you think Google is great today you may not think so in 10 or 20 years when Google and its data is now owned by some company using your data for reasons you don't like.

If you don't give a company a reason to exploit your data (i.e. don't give them the data to exploit) they can never disappoint you.

Can you enlighten the group on how Alphabet makes its money?

As Alphabet is very much aware that targeted advertising based on user data is their primary revenue source...

Sure. First Google doesn't collect your data to sell it to another company. It collects your data to show you relevant ads.

You see, a company PAYS GOOGLE to get their products in front of people. How does Google know which users will like that PAYING COMPANY's products? By collecting your data.

People here seem to think Google takes your data and says "Ok corporations, here's this guys info. How much do you want for it?".

Again, this is not how Google works.

You gotta give it to Apple for trying though, I mean they even erased Hard Drive during Mac OS X Update and removed photos, if you do not call that a privacy driven update, I don't know what it is!

I mean neither you can access your data, how can you be more safe than that?
