Who can test for me and tell me if this is resolved in 8.1 that was released today?

Issue: You get a new email via exchange (Google Apps for Business, Outlook) and when you read it on your computer, it's not clearing it from the lock screen like you've already read it from another source

How to test: send yourself an email from alternate source, have email up on computer, wait for phone to get it and show on lock screen, then read on your computer.

Did it clear from the lockscreen when you read it on your computer?

Let me know. Sad but this is what's got me on 7.1 still. Thanks.

I read email on my iPad and it's not cleared the notification on my iPhone and vice versa.

This is with 8.1 and a Google Apps email setup as an exchange account.

Same here. Just went to pick up my iPad (which I updated to 8.1 hours ago) and the lock screen was filled with email that was already read or trashed on my other devices.

Disappointing.

I am seriously pissed off about this. I'm reporting it to Apple at this point

Agreed. I will too. The more of us who do the better.

Since iOS 8, all users on my google apps domain have complained about lock screen syncing and periods of time where mail doesn't push.

Thanks for your help on this and the other posters that replied.

See you when 8.1.1 comes out.. Sigh

Just wanted to update this thread and let you all know that this is *finally* fixed in iOS 8.2 beta 1. It's been driving me crazy for months.

Thank you for the update!!! Now I'm going to be tempted to run the beta...

Lol yup! It's been working on all the 8.2 betas for me. Been using the betas for months just for this reason.

Now it's just a matter of going from 7 to 8... 7 has worked so well for me, I'm worried I won't like 8 (performance wise).

iPhone 5s... your thoughts on 8.2?

I've been using 8.2 on my 6 Plus and 5s. I've been quite happy with it overall. Definitely enjoy the extras that came with it, especially actionable notifications and continuity.

I'm sure on MR you'll find people on both sides of the fence. Some even still holding onto iOS 6.

Call me crazy, but are you on 8.2 GM? I don't want to get this update and for some STRANGE reason, this is still broken... lol thanks

Yup.. Well, I've been on 8.2 GM for half an hour so far, haha. But the mail thing is definitely fixed, even on the GM.

Wait a few days to be safe if you want. I'll post back if I see the behaviour different from expected.

Didn't have a Google for Apps to test, but so far my Exchange Online account still doesn't "sync" read status on read in iOS 8.2. The badge count and notification centre update on another device update only when I mark it as read *and* move it to another pushed folders.

I wonder if every implementation, or even the protocol itself, of EAS in fact pushes only on "new items arrival" (literally new, incl. moving from other folders) but not on flag changes in the pushed folders, and hence if you want unread count sync, you need to move the mail to another pushed folder in order to trigger a push.

If you don't get full syncing of everything then maybe the server side implementation can vary. Weird.

I know with my Google Apps account, along with a local MS Exchange server, I get identical behaviour. Everything is pushed/synced with what feels instantly. For ex, I receive a new email, my phone lights up and the email is on the lock screen. As soon as I open that email on my desktop, it disappears from the lock screen of the phone.

Thanks for the information. Perhaps Microsoft has a different configuration with their Exchange Online offerings.

Oh boy.. getting really wacky behaviour today. Both on iPhone and Mac, emails not pushing at all, and randomly fetching at different times.

I use Office 365 Business with Exchange and am not having any syncing issues. 10.10.3 on my Mac, 8.2 on iPhone and the Outlook web app all sync pretty fast.

Good to know, thanks. Do you use Mail.app on OS X? Does flagging emails sync across devices as well?

Yes I use the Mail app. I just flagged two emails on my phone and opened OWA (Safari browser), and both emails were flagged. In Mail app both flags showed up as well.

Edit- I have the new Outlook 2016 app on my Mac as well and the flags showed up there.

Thanks! That's one of the features I was hoping to make use of. I think I'll test out Office 365 with one of my domains.

One other quick question for you if you don't mind. I've been using Office365 for 2 days now with a custom domain. Mainly to try out mail.

Using it on an iPhone, iPad and a Mac (Mail app and browser). It seems to sync everything quite nicely, but it doesn't push all changes. Almost like the issue at the beginning of this thread. It pushes new items, and any changes I make on one device instantly show up on OWA (in the browser) like flagging, reading an email, deleting. But those changes aren't pushed immediately to other devices. If I open and trash an email on my iPhone, it'll still be on the iPad lock screen until another comes in, or I go and unlock the iPad and refresh the mail app.

Is this behaviour you've seen as well?

I get that sometimes, too, where iOS Mail app is quick to get new emails but doesn't really change its status to show an email was moved or deleted. I will get alerts at the exact same time on my phone as Outlook 2016 so its certainly getting pushed to very fast. Mail app on Yosemite is slow to show new emails. I can have both Mail app on Yosemite and Outlook 2016 both open, and Mail app will take minutes to show a new email that Outlook 2016 (and my phone) already alerted to.

I am not sure if this is a client issue or Office 365 but I suspect a client issue due to the inconsistency between clients. If I mark an email as read on my phone Outlook 2016 drops the alert bubble on the dock icon within seconds while OS X Mail app will still have the alert bubble for minutes. If I mark an email as read in Outlook 2016 both OS X and iOS Mail app will still show an alert bubble.
