That video is quite old.

I've set up several Gmail accounts via the Gmail icon and it has worked very nicely for IMAP accounts. In addition to that setup, there is another way to get Gmail set up and that is depicted here:

That second method shows you a different screen when you retrieve emails. You can even have both set up on your iphone.

I just set up a second account using the default Gmail Iphone settings and it defaulted to POP access. I know the video is old, but it still seems to work the same way. I will try out your way. Hmmm...

I had this same problem on my phone, and here is what fixed it:

1. Delete all your Gmail settings on your Iphone (all accounts)
2. Log on to gmail.com from your computer and change your password to something different.
3. Logout from gmail on the computer.
4. Setup the Gmail again on the phone using the default settings and the new password.

Let me know if it works for you.

You could always just try setting up the Gmail account by going to the "Other" option on the iPhone. Just plug in imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com and your username as your full email ____@gmail.com and then your password (input username and password for BOTH IMAP and SMTP).
