Workaround

My company offers a service called Loa PowerTools. It's discussed here and there on the web, most recently in a blog here. Mail always goes out no matter where I am (office, home, airport, hotel, Starbucks, etc.) and I use mail.app for all eight of my accounts - some IMAP, one POP, one MobileMe, one Exchange Server, two gmail, all with different hosts/ISPs - and many of our users have a similar profile.

My theory:
Homeland security putting scanning filters on all outbound email, and sometimes those filters have "issues" with the content they are scanning and have to re-route them to more detailed scans, and some get hung-up in that process.

Sounds far fetched? I've watched too many movies?

fwiw, I've had similar problems with mail and my yahoo account.
I did not change any settings, worked fine for years, then.....hang up on outgoing. Not godaddy like you use, but similar issue as you describe. Not repeatable, random.

ISP Blocking? Outgoing Port 25 Blocked?

I have had trouble with my ISP blocking the outgoing mail if I try to use the godaddy outgoing mail server. The ISP wants to be sure I am not sending spam from their network.
See instead if you can use your ISP providers outgoing mail server.

Also the port setting can be blocked by your ISP if you are trying to use the port number (25) that does not require you to login with a username and password to send mail. Instead try port (587) to send mail through but you must be an authorized user of the outgoing mail server and login with username and password to send mail. This is a very common problem at the free public wifi ports at airports that will block port number 25.

I have had very good service using Apple mail client with a POP mail account through Godaddy. An IMAP mail account is a different story as in my opinion there is some synchronization issue with Godaddy's servers.

I have seen other topics that have no solution posted in the Leopard forums. Now that we have 10.6 and the problem still exists it's time for a new thread.

The details.
1. Mail is set up exactly as it should be per Godaddy's site, and their phone tech support.
2. Mail is being received on a regular basis and works perfectly.
3. Some messages send, while others refuse to send with no pattern as to why.
3.1. When sending these stubborn messages - Mail quickly shows the status reach about halfway through the "sending message" progress bar in the lower left of the app and then immediately stops and says it can not send with the selected server.
4. Changing the message slightly sometimes allows the message to send, but not always.
5. Godaddy points the finger at Mac Mail as the culprit.

So what can we do to start the troubleshooting process? How can we find out what Mac Mail is doing when it decides not to send these messages and just fail?

This is getting really old, really fast.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

This isn't a problem unique to Macintosh users, sadly. It's GoDaddy's fault but, naturally, they'll blame everyone else for their problems. That's part of how NoDaddy was born, after all. The NoDaddy Forums are full of horror stories. GoDaddy has been at the center of many controversies, too.

I've had GoDaddy's e-mail and hosting packages and nothing but problems with all of them, Windows, Mac, Linux just the same. Currently, I am migrating away as quickly as possible, although they've put a 60 day lock on my domain.

Hover is a good alternative to GoDaddy. My friend setup Hover Coupon after becoming incredibly angry with them. No problems here with my mail since I've switched, knock on wood...
