I'm happy to report that my machine has been stable with the new cable so far. My machine used to crash every few hours, but I've been using this cable for 12+ hours without any freezing.
That's cool! this give me hope! Im still waiting for my elgato cable...![]()
I installed a Samsung 830 512gb into an early 2011 MBP past week. I used the goflex 2.5" thunderbolt to transfer the data, but this kept on dropping out at the start of the installation so ended up using a goflex fw800 adapter to do it. I later used a USB flash drive to reinstall again to get a completely clean install without all unwanted crap I had installed in the old hd.
No problems what so ever and everything is that much faster. I reinstalled the old 1tb Samsung hd into a optical caddy. The windows partition works fine- it worked well with thunderbolt adapter as well.
I'm going to grab another Samsung 512gb to attempt a Raid 0 soon.
That's so annoyng!!!!
So guys Im desperate! I tried with the elgato cable and nothing good!
So this is the summary:
- goflex + apple cable + samsung 830 SSD
I was not able to format the SSD I fot a file system error
- I returned the samsung 830 and the goflex and got a vertex 4ssd with a new go flex, this time I was able to format the vertex, but then it started to drop out every 5 second like it has been ejected.
- I returned the apple cable and got an elgato cable, and nothing changed! As i connect the gofles the SSD appear on the desktop than disappear like it has been ejected than appear bla..bla..
- So what's now? Maybe the first time was the apple cable, than I got a damaged go flex? I also tought to have a problem in my IMAC thunderbolt interface, but tryng with another IMAC I got the same result.
Please help!
