I just bought a new 12 pro max and I'm thinking about getting Applecare coverage to use the phone without a case.

Those of you who have Applecare, do you use a case ?

Yes, I use a case. AppleCare doesn’t cover cosmetic damage, or “damage caused by reckless, abusive, willful or intentional conduct”; and for damage that is covered, a case costs less than the deductible (and hassle of replacement).

I have Apple Care + with lost and theft protection and yes, I have a case and a screen protector. I will never use my phone without a case. The only time I ever do is towards the end of its life when I no longer care for the phone anymore. So the longer it's in a case, it means I care about the phone lol Apple Care is just a good back up because accidents do happen unexpectedly and the last time I had an iPhone (iPhone 5 back when it first was released) Apple Care came in handy when I accidentally dropped my phone in water. You never know what can happen, especially when you're out and about. For me, it gives me a piece of mind so that God forbid something happens to my phone, I have a quick way to get a replacement without having to dish out over $1.5k on a new phone.

Were you aware that as long as you have a phone to turn in to Apple they will give you the OoW (Out of Warranty) price for a new phone? Using your old iPhone 5 as an example, the OoW price without AC+ would have been around $300.

I didn't have AC+ on my iPhone 6+ and I shattered the screen. Apple charged me $170. Now, because they couldn't for some reason, get iOS 9 installed on it they gave me a brand new phone for the price of the screen replacement ($170).

I assume your $1.5K does not take any of this into account.

Always with a case and screen protector as well as AppleCare+. Dropped an older iPhone on gravel which cracked the Belkin screen protector but didn't touch the screen. Tripped with an iPad and set it flying across the floor, luckily on its back. Scratches destroyed the resale value.

I have AppleCare+ with theft and loss. I use a case at work delivering mail and go caseless at home. I also have a screen protector installed. I’m thinking about going back to my cases at home since my 3-year-old want to use my phone to play his games.

Get a used OG SE off Swappa or eBay for your son to play games. That way, your phone isn't put in danger nor do you have to bundle it up in a lot of protection.

I don’t use cases on my phone usually, though sometimes I will because I want To change up the look and feel on my phone.

I found my iPhone 7+ spring cleaning my closet. I set it up for him and he’s happy to have “his own phone”. It’ll be perfect for our trip to Sesame Place this weekend.

Even better.

It is getting that time of year. I know you said you were keeping your phone but, are you getting any signs of iPhone fever?

Not yet. I love my 12 Pro Max and the color. I haven’t even been keeping up on any rumors for the 13 series, or whatever they’re going to call it. My Pro Max is jailbroken and still on 14.1 so I’m staying put until one come out for iOS 15 (after it’s released). What about you?

I will probably get the latest and greatest mini since it is rumored to be the last release.

That makes sense. I haven’t had an iPhone that I love as much as my Pro Max. I’m definitely going to keep it for another year. The battery life on this phone is crazy. I leave the house at 7am. I start listening to music at 10am when I hit the street to start my route. I either listen to music or talk on the phone from 10am -5:30 or 6pm and still finish with 40% left. My AirPods need to be charged at least twice while at work.

I agree that is excellent battery life. We will see shortly, Stacey. :p We all know what happens when a color we dig is introduced.

If I was ever to get AppleCare (I won’t), I’d still have my iPhone in a case because I prefer the look and feel of it better. I hate the feel of a slippery cold iPhone and I’d end up smashing it by the end of the first week anyway.

I will never buy any Apple product without AppleCare+. With the case I’m using now, I actually like how thin it is and I can still show off the color.

I go caseless without AppleCare. I've never dropped one, but if I were to do so now, I've already saved enough money by not purchasing AppleCare to purchase a new phone.
