Had every iPhone since 3G. No cases, no screen protectors. I have had several drops (around 4), 1 with my 3GS on pavement. Nothing broke or cracked but there were nicks in the plastic and my 5 dropped out of my shirt pocket when I bent over on the porch. It fell 10 feet into pavement. Had a minor dent and nicks in the aluminum but nothing else. No other issues with my phones. No scratches on the screen either.

Don't plan on using a case ever.

All my phones, I hold in my palm with my pinky resting on the bottom edge for support. Corner of the phone is in the "meat" of my palm and my index rests on the back. Nice grip.

I loathe cases (even the thinnest shell), and am not sure if this counts as "naked", but I've had very good results with a full-coverage screen protector.

All my devices (every iPhone iteration since original) have been naked save for whatever screen protector I put on them and I have only once broken a screen when it was dropped (actually, while I was changing out the screen protector).

The aluminum backs of the 6 are so tough (and the S even more so with the new alloy supposedly) that I can't really see much except cosmetic damage occurring from scuffs in most falls, and a screen protector that *goes to the edges* goes a much longer way than I thought in screen damage/shatter protection from a lot of falls.

I've only ever put the device in a case when it's going near/on/in water, to Burning Man, or climbing (when, really, it normally doesn't ever come out of pack/pocket, really, and if it does, it's tethered to a gear loop/rack loop). The bottom line comes down to: don't drop it, and if you can limit your drop potential to 3-4 ft (table/pocket height), I think a solid screen protector will go a very long way to making naked work because the backs are solid enough and the frames durable enough that naked is viable for the most part.

For wet, highly alkaline dust, or "high potential energy with rapid conversion to kinetic :)" environments, well, naked is just asking for trouble, though.

I have already had my 6s plus slip out of my hands 4 times. I am
By no means a clumsy person. I am terrified of handling this phone without a case !
How do you "naked" iPhone user cope with the unavoidable slippage of the hand ?

After a year of no case, my 6 has one small ding and scuff on the lower antenna panel area from a direct impact with granite from 3 ft. No other issues, despite many falls I thought "damn, that's leaving a mark and breaking something on the inside....".

I have always had a screen protector on mine, though my girlfriend has not and the amount of "micro scratches" is huge on hers vs. none on mine (buy one of the screen protectors with lifetime replacements and you can essentially get a new screen every time you need it). They don't show up when the screen is on all that much save for some very rare images that have just the right light/colors, but when it's off, it's really obvious.

Those of you with 6 and 6+ and no case, what about scratches?? Especially to the screen.

I've used my iPhone 6 careless one and off and have been pretty happy with the result. With the new stronger aluminum, I doubt I'll use cases again.

Really, the biggest reason I use cases is because skin on metal gets clammy.

I'll NEVER go naked with any of my devices. I work hard and buy my iPhone's outright so it wouldn't make sense to have no case. It's like driving a car without insurance. Lol.

The real question to ask is how is resale on these unprotected and often dinged up phones?

Naked it great if you buy a model and skip the next two. But, if you buy each year no so much.

Now if you're in a trade in program, and the phone only needs to be functional when turned in, then naked is ideal.

Naked is nice but its too slippery whether in hand or in my pocket -- unless I have a zippered pocket like the Eddie Bauer Guide Pro Pants. I've tried different slim cases including the fancy Mujjo leather wallet case but the Apple leather is the best at maintaining the thin feel but with protection. The main niggle is the covered buttons. I took a box cutter and carved them out.

I have always used a slim case and a screen protector. On my 6Plus the case was a clear one from Spigen as I loved the look of the gold iPhone. I will continue to use a clear Spigen on my new rose gold iPhone 6S Plus. My phones look pristine when I resell them.

Put a skin on it.

Never use a case or screen protector. Turned in my 6 yesterday for a new 6s (NEXT) and the guy was amazed that there was not a mark, scratch, or anything else on the 6. I love using the phones they way they were designed to be used. Nothing like the feel of the iPhone.

My phone came out of the box and was set on a soft microfiber towel while I replaced the SIM card. Once that was done it went right into Sedio Surface case. Nice grip like the top of a Thinkpad, but not tacky so it picks up debris. The 6 series iPhone are the most slippery iPhones to date. Those rounded corners and edges are screaming for Gravity to apply!

I hate cases myself, but feel that the apple leather case is the exception. My 6S Plus feels better with it than without it. Plus, I like the stealth black look :)

Apple Care+ ;)

i have to admit just yesterday it slipped out of my hand and onto the street nearly sliding on its display across the bridge onto the highway below. it literally stopped like 10 cm before the edge. no scratches or bumps phew

i got a 0,01 thin case now. barely feel or see it

it happens man, i dropped mine numerous time, i bought a grip case right away whenever i order a new iPhone.and it goes for my new iPhone 6s.

By avoiding dropping my phone. It's easy. Don't drop it.

I use a case for the grip. IMHO, the new iPhones are too lite and slippery. Gotta add some bulk to it. INCIPIO makes great cases. They're durable and not too bulky like an otter box.

No it's not easy as you make it out to be. Either you're extremely lucky or you have some weird special hands that stick to the phone. It doesn't matter how careful one is or how much care one takes there is always a possibility of dropping the phone.

I use the  Leather Black case on my iPhone 6 Plus for grip.

I hope one day some company will sell some form of strips that just adhere to the edges of the iPhone thus giving grip.

I think of how many times the Spigen Tough Armor case saved my 5s. I never even flinch when I drop it knowing the case will do the job. All the protection of an Otterbox for the most part without the bulk.

It was a no-brainer to get one for the 6s Plus and so far I love the combo. I don't do screen protection. Never found a screen protector, glass or otherwise that I've liked.

i tried to go caseless but couldn't.

i NEVER used a case with the 3G, 3GS, 4 or 5.. but i had to.

it's too thin and the material used is terrible.

i would prefer if they did something like the 1+1.. the back on that phone is amazing.

I had a 6+ and it was pretty easy to drop. Got the UAG and dropped it so many times without a doubt that my case would protect it. Never damaged my phone with the UAG.

I got the 6s regular size now and I feel pretty solid in holding it naked now, got more of a grip on it. Also got a back film protector on it though so maybe that helped.

You just don't let go of your phone. Dropping your phone is 100% in your control unless someone comes up to you and slaps it out of your hand.
