I’ve been to Disney World four times but not in the recent past. I’m taking my girlfriend for a week and was wondering if anyone has been there recently.

What did you enjoy the most?
My first trip to Disneyland, Anaheim Califirornia was at Night and magical. It was Navy Night and the crowds were thin. I most enjoyed: Main Street, the train ride around the perimeter, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Jungle Ride, The Robinson’s Tree House, The Submarine Ride, The Monorail, The Boat Ride, and the Haunted Mansion. I thought Space Mountain would be cool but it was just being jerked around in the dark. On later trips to Disney World/ Epcot we went on an indoor ride that featured dinos but I can’t remember it’s name. My wife says it was an Exxon ride which was fun. The Safari ride in Animal Kindom was a snore. After my third time to a Disney Park, I was done, but enjoyed it while it lasted. Also hit Disneyland Tokyo, but it’s just not the same hearing it’s a Small World in Japanese. ;)

So to be clear, you wrote (slightly re-authored):

Florida is having record cases of Covid-19, and Disney World is experiencing a massive uptick in visitors ... so I determined this is the best time to travel to Florida and go to Disney.

Outstanding.

Maybe I'll use some of the same logic, let's see, sharks feed at dusk, so I think I'll go swimming about 50 yards offshore tonight, around 8p, and before I go, I'll fill my pockets with bloody raw steak ...

It's even worse in one sense with COVID-19, since visitors who contract the disease also risk spreading it to all others they may come in contact with. It's like putting the raw steak in other people's pockets as well.

TBH, seeing how nutty COVID cases are in FL right now and how many people do flock to Disney from all over the place, I don't see a trip in my future.

As I said, the park holds some very, very special memories to me and my fiancée and I had been planning a honeymoon there in late December/early January(October, right after the wedding, is out of the question due to my new job) but we are seriously reconsidering that now. That's saying a lot coming from her given how much she absolutely loves the place.

Yeah I think Disney World could close which is why we are going soon. Right now cases are SURGING in Florida, so I'm thinking that's why a lot of people are going because they want to go incase it shuts down again
You don't suppose that closing the parks sooner rather than later, and surging case numbers, is a good indicator not to go?

As a broader and sort of unrelated statement...from recollection of the OP's up and down romance drama...this "girlfriend" hasn't been around super long-maybe March-ish.

Even in normal circumstances, a trip to Disney needs a lot of planning and not just "winging it" and can be stressful for all involved. For the health of the relationship, it might be good to make a smaller trip soon and save the big trip for later, and maybe after some semblance of normal has returned(whenever that is).

My then-girlfriend(now fiancée, and soon wife) had been seeing each other a while and had made several trips together before going to Disney. We started planning the Disney trip about 7 months out-of course I suggested because I expected by then the time would be right to propose to her and had known all along that if we came to that point, I wanted to do it at WDW(in front of the castle) if at all possible. It worked out great and I don't think she or I would have wanted things any other way, but still it was expensive and a lot of work.

One of my college friends who graduated a few years ago got a pretty decent job there and she loves it. Her sister is ALWAYS on snap with Mini ears on and she's always laughing and smiling ear to ear. I wonder if family gets some sort of a discount since she's there all the time

My parents got reservations for next June, but they're not going to to be unsafe (Dad's a doctor, mom's a nurse).

I had a dream last night they went out to Disney like right now. Miserable.

Macrumors is hurting my physical and emotional health😂😂😂😂
