I don't either, does the 2.8 extreme processor have any advantages over the macbook pro's 2.4? or even the 2.5? maybe it's the video card too. How does the HD2600 pro compare to the 8600GT? maybe they'll update the imac graphics by April to the 3600 or something nicer that'd totally sell me because I'll be using it for watching movies too

400mhz. that's it. no difference at all for most tasks.

they're pretty comparable. none of the adobe cs3 apps (ps, illustrator, etc) really use the graphics card anyways. they're mostly processor based.

also, for playing back video, the card doesn't matter.

get the base model macbook pro ($1799 with edu discount) with a 7200rpm hard drive and upgrade to 4GB of ram aftermarket.

portability is key in college. i take my laptop to most of my classes (note taking is much faster typing imo) its good if you want to go to the library or something to do homework too.
