Going to the UK but AT&T wont unlock my phone

I'm not sure I buy the "It's locked to <network name>, so that customer will stay the whole 2 years" logic TBH.

As I understand it (I'm in the UK remember), Verizon & T-Mobile iPhones are unlocked yes?

It would be interesting to see how many of those customers jump ship and leave those networks early, just because the phone is unlocked.

I reckon they stay with the networks (because that's why they signed up with them in the first place) and use other SIMs in other countries as the need arises).

I tend to agree with you, and that's why I find it doubly insulting to have the carrier still place this lock crippling the phone for the few people that need it for travel choices.

you guys still talking about this?! sheesh. cry me a river.

if at&t still locks their phones, then switch to a carrier that doesn't once the phone is paid up.

Even better, why don't you create a thread whereby you could commiserate with other owners who rail at carriers who sell locked phones.

I'll promise to check in from time to time to egg you guys on.
