Apple CEO Tim Cook on Monday at the "Spring Forward" media event in San Francisco announced that the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition will cost upwards of $10,000, and will be available in limited quantities. At the low end of Apple Watch Edition pricing, the 38mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band costs $10,000, and at the high end is the 38mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Bright Red Modern Buckle for $17,000.

The specific Apple Watch Edition pricing for each model:

38mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band -- $10,000
42mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band -- $12,000
38mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Black Sport Band -- $10,000

price here is irrelevant, buyers have enough $$$ to do whatever... it's a fashion piece and something Apple wants celebrities and public figures to wear
 
It makes the aluminum and steel watches look cheap (part of Apple's marketing strategy).

/By "look cheap" I mean inexpensive in comparison.

You have to either be
a) stupid
or b) filthy rich
... to even consider buying that thing which will be out of date this time next year.
 
Why not charge ten times as much, we all know who's going to be buying these.

Then again, as long as "limited quantities" is tossed around without a number it's pretty self-explanatory that they will probably serve everyone who feels like plunking down 10 grand for a device that'll be outdated in a few years.

For $10,000, I'd expect the engraving to be a little better than this.

$17,000 for the cool leather one.
