There's just a certain level of professionalism that black conveys compared to the other options.

I couldn't imagine trying to get a job in, say, law enforcement, going to the interview, and busting out a white/silver or white/gold iPhone. That just screams "Look at me! Look at me!" IMO.

You may want to just leave whatever phone you have in your car when at a job interview.

Lmao, I work law enforcement and everything's black, except my white iphone 5s lifeproof case, site in front pocket of vest.
Guess what? Doesn't change anything as long as your good at your job. It's just a phone, it's not like I have pink furry handcuffs, get real.

Maybe...

... or maybe I'll simply purchase the more corporate/professional looking space grey.

Sure, once you already have the job you can do whatever the heck you want. But I'm sure there are a lot of newbie career hopeful's out there who are looking to avoid any flashy mistakes during the interview process to earn their career. Hell, I've known people who have agonized over simply which font or type of paper to use for their resume. You tell them to go interview with a white and gold iPhone and they would tell you that you're out of your mind (same for pink furry handcuffs) ;)

Or leave phone in car? Same could be said of your car I guess. If you drive a pos car , a lot of employers watch you drive out window or through monitors. Either way good or bad car , black or white iphone shouldn't matter.

Personally I'd rather just get the more corporate/professional looking phone.

I agree though that it's all ******** and shouldn't occur. Same with the car, the suit, the resume, it really should just come down to how good the person is for the job.

I compared all three in person and I really like the gold because it is very subtle, but seems like it has more "personality" than the silver. I would consider getting a Mac that uses the same colour.

If you whip out your phone during a job interview, you probably aren't getting the job regardless of what color it is.

It's not like I'm talking out pulling it out of your pocket to show off to the interviewer

I usually keep mine in my back left pocket so I don't have some random bulge in my front pocket that sticks out. When I go to sit down I'll usually take it out of my back pocket so I don't sit on it and put it on either my lap or the table in front of me, face down. At this point the white/gold version would be screaming out for attention compared to the more corporate, professional looking black version.

I really hope your in a 6 figure job or more, otherwise you worry way to much about how people look at you, I use to know 3 guys who would dress up in super nice suits, take briefcases etc and go to places and act like they are super successful. You wouldn't believe how many woman they've picked up (lol I laugh so hard) but in end of the day they are still average paid person just trying to act like someone they aren't.

Gotta fake it till you make it

BRB gotta go take a business call about a company merger and stock options ;)

For me, it's very close. I think they all look great. Space grey looks much better IRL. The pictures don't do it justice. The opposite is true for the gold phone. Still looks great, but it is really dolled up in pics (at least the apple ones)

If I had an actual choice, I would have taken the gold one, but apple made my choice for me so space grey it is. I'm cool with that.

I think you overestimate how much the gold phone 'screams out for attention.' It's very understated. Does this scream out for attention? This is my phone.

In a corporate setting, no one really cares...and I am an electrical engineer: I'm surrounded by gadget freaks and while we might have friendly barbs at one another between iOS and Android, etc...no one really cares or judges each other based on their smartphone choice. If anyone wanted to challenge my 'manliness' over having the gold iPhone, I'd point them to my Army service records and performance during the Iraq war.

I don't think any potential employer gives a flying crap what color your phone is. They care if you're distracted by it when you're in the interview, but otherwise, no one cares.

If my choice of phone, either in color or make, had an honest to goodness impact on my employment, then I sure as heck would be glad I wasn't hired by some incredibly petty crazy person who judges a person's suitability for a job by the color of their phone. Now if you had a case with swastikas on it or something, then yes, that's a fair judgement for the person to make, but we're talking about the color of a gadget. No one cares.

Don't want into color as I've already agreed the corporate stigma is lame, but just wanted to say thank you for serving and protecting the country :)

P.S. really like your site. You take great photos.

Thanks! I appreciate it... I didn't know I had linked my site anywhere (though I guess you could view the source location on my image and go from there. Is that what you did? :) )

No but you missed his point. If you whip your phone out during an interview then you're really being inappropriate. Put it away. Regardless of the color, it's a cell phone and doesn't need to be in your lap on on a table during that time.

Gold iPhones do not scream anything more to me than any other color. I prefer Space Grey as I am not a fan of gold.

Yeah, I saw your iPhone 5s photo and thought to myself "this picture looks way too good for a regular user, looks like he got it from a photographer site! I'm going to quote it and find out the source website and catch him in a lie!" ;)

Joke was on me as I'm still wiping the egg off my face, you take great pictures though :p

Hehe.... Thanks again.

I had always the the apple iphones in black....never again im going with white from now on less grease and fingerprints iphone5s white/gold

Space grey for me, just think it looks sleek compared with the white/gold. Had a white 5 but decided to go back to black face this time. Definitely made the right decision in my opinion

Just to add to the pointless job interview argument:

I do think that the black looks more professional. Would it be a dealbreaker in an interview? prolly not. but say you're in an interview and the guy tries to set up the next interview (or time/place for drug screen, or whatever) and you pull out your phone to check your availability on your calendar? That would be a legit reason to pull it out in an interview.

Wouldn't bother me personally, but i could see some interviewees being concerned. Best foot forward and all.

Would be worse if it were a pink phone with hello kitty all over (for a guy).
