Is gold really that much MORE popular or does the scarcity in production just make it seem that way? Personally I saw the gold in store and that's what I'll be waiting for. Patiently, sort of

I think it'll be more popular than we initially believed (especially based on the polls I've seen on various website). But now we learned it's so scarce we hear a disproportionate amount clamoring from those who wanted it.

I don't think its society, but rather a handful of people seemed to tie color to gender.

In the Real World, its not that big of deal but it seems to be here in the intarwebs. I've seen my share of men who had white iPhones. They didn't seem to care, nor did I.

I've also seen just about every colored case under the sun, and again the gender of the person mattered not.

My point is that if someone is having an issue, they're in the minority. Get the phone you want, whether its gold, white, hot pink It doesn't matter because most people don't even look at what phone you're holding at this point (and 9 times out of 10, you'll have a case on it)

Absolutely...I've always had black...never even thought about white, pink or any other colour, but this time around I decided I'd like a change...the Gold is subtle, and as Maflynn points out, it;s my choice...to each his or her own...I'm going to have to wait a little longer for my 5S, but I have what's known as patience!:)

I don't know why people need to create a thread justifying their phone color selection. It's obvious the OP needs us to validate his future choice. Why do you feel so sexually threatened by a color that you need us to agree with you? It's just a color.

I'm a 35 year old Army veteran, married with kids, who is waiting patiently for my gold and white 5S. Don't really care if anyone thinks it's feminine. I'm not a feminine looking guy, so I really don't care. And even if anyone did think it made me look that way, I really couldn't care less. I'll be rocking it in a brown leather apple case, which should make it look rather executive, IMO. I'm an engineer, and we see tons of phones of all types. No one cares about the color except the owner.

Everyone in my office (who has an iphone) has a WHITE iphone including me.

There is one problem though... I am male while everyone else with an iphone is female....

Hmmm.....

If the phone was black/gold i would have picked it up... I went for white/silver instead. The reason that I didn't get a white/gold is that it reminded me of a very common color scheme of white/gold of many women handbags . I blame the 3 gens of females that I used to live with for this. Also, gold is not 'in' as a color for male jewelry ATM...
