*beats head on table*

Microsoft owns Rare, the original developer. Nintendo is the publisher. Sony just owns the James Bond distribution rights.
I feel your pain sir. The title of this thread alone was enough to get my interest given the cluster you're going to need to deal with now.

Your lawyer 'asplode.

A little update for the DS and PSP might be nice too. Especially considering it's a FPS that worked quite well with only 1 analogue bit. 'Course the DS version needs to use that touchscreen which might make sniping in multiplayer usable.

well if it ever did get released it would be cool, but i think i would be more excited about banjo-kazooie... or banjo-tooie, i never got to play it.

Goldeneye was and still is a Nintendo 64 game. Therefore, nintendo still has a say, even Reggie Fils-Aimé said they are going to get it on the virtual console for the wii. So, this means microsoft might get it, BUT! nintendo will have some sort of say in who gets profits from it. Also I think there is going to be a dual launch on the wii's virtual console and xbox 360. The ps3 will have slim chances of getting goldeneye since it never was on a sony console to begin with. Lastly sony owns film rights. i doubt they care but somehow they will get money from bringing it out on the wii and 360. Anyways I wonder when this is going to happen the game is in legal hell right now and the outcome with all these companies will be an interesting one when goldeneye does get re-released in whatever form. But my point is that nintendo is going to have HUGE say since it was the console that it was put out on 10 years ago. Also they aren't defunct company, which means the fight will go on and on. :)

No. No he didn't. Please provide a quote.

The only thing Reggie has said on the topic is:
"Would I love to see it on virtual console? Absolutely. But there are a lot of issues there." He made it sound like there's a chance. "Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues."

This is not a confirmation that it is coming for VC. It is essentially, "Uh, no promises, it's pretty hard."

So, this means microsoft might get it, BUT! nintendo will have some sort of say in who gets profits from it. Also I think there is going to be a dual launch on the wii's virtual console and xbox 360.

And you know this...how? Oh, right, you're making it up.

Except that since they own the film rights they can block it from being released on any other platform.

When or if? It might never see light of day :( The only hope is being released on all three platforms but I doubt anyone would agree to it.

But my point is that nintendo is going to have HUGE say since it was the console that it was put out on 10 years ago. Also they aren't defunct company, which means the fight will go on and on. :)

Nintendo won't have any bigger say than Microsoft (who owns the actual game) or Sony (who owns the rights to it). They were the publisher. They DO have a say, but not the level of control you seem to think. Street Fighter II was released on SNES, but also came out on XBox Live Arcade, you know.

Also, try putting some spacing in your posts.

Whoa!! Praxis chill! Jeez I was trying to agree with you. That's Reggie quote is what I read. I was just lazy and wanted to get a response out. Man I love nintendo so don't go off on me. I was trying to say that nintendo would get it on the virtual console and microsoft. But at the end of the day I was trying to defend your points in previous posts. Geez people just need to relax on video games I care passionately about them but there's no point going off if I leave out the quote or quotes I just wanted to contribute. Yikes!

Haha don't misinterpet, I don't get mad easily, I'm just like the terminator when it comes to dissecting forum posts :D

There were a few clearly inaccurate parts in your post (like the way you paraphrased Reggie) so I took it down. Don't take it personally at all, I'd expect you to do the same to me if I posted something completely incorrect.

Do try to use a bit more spacing though, it makes things a lot easier to read.

Honestly I doubt the game will come out this generation- if it does, it won't happen without huge profit sharing, but I think each company will just decide that it's not worth the time and effort to hammer out an agreement. :(

Microsoft, MGM Studios and Activision came to an agreement (from what i read a while ago). it's just that Activision decided to ask Nintendo about it. the thing is Nintendo has no say whatsoever. they only hold the rights for the N64 version. the xbla version would be different from the N64 therefore Nintendo has no say. Activision is scared that Nintendo might sue them :(

Not true, Nintendo has a say. It's a N64 game copyrighted by Nintendo/Rare in 1997. Nintendo doesn't have the right to distribute it to any other platform beyond the N64, but they can certainly go after anyone for damages that copies their code -- this would apply to a XBLA version that did not have Nintendo's permission.

Here's a the link from your link(It's still speculation.);

We used to play this game all the time in college (along with Pod Racer on the N64). This will be a definite purchase for my 360 :p
