Like everyone other thread, current iPad owners dismiss the new features, and basically drop a turd on every thread in which people talk excitedly about the new features.

Let the folks that are excited for the new iPad enjoy it, there's no reason to poop in every thread just because your iPad is now not the newest shiniest one on the block. Its like clockwork around here.

Also, one thing I noticed on my iPod Touch is that the tapered edges make pressing those rocker and power buttons more difficult because they're more recessed to fit into the smooth lines. We'll see if the iPad suffers from that same "style over function" flaw.

While that's a very valid criticism against the iPod Touch, the funny thing is that by most reviewers' accounts this new design actually helps people grab their iPad better with less stress, so in this case the function follows style.

Yeah it is typical. iPhone 3G owners complain about the 3GS, 3GS owners complain about the 4. And the cycle will continue. iPhone's advantage is that after buying a subsidized one you can sell it for double what you paid and get the next upgrade for "free". With iPad the price drop of the last model hurts the old models resale value.

The iPad 2 is still not the perfect iPad, it could use some better cameras, could always use more ram, more processor speed, retina display and all that stuff, but it is still a substantial upgrade.

And to stay on topic, it looks really thin. I can't wait to actually try holding it since most reviewers said the .2 pound loss plus the thinner shape makes it much nicer to hold.

screw that...im an ipad 1 owner from day ONE..and i sold the hell outta that thing as soon as this was announced...

gotta have the newest....if i dont, itll ruin my rep ;)

First, the iPad 1 was tapered too, but tapered after the squared edges. All early accounts suggest iPad 2 is a lot more comfortable to hold because of the new design.

I've wondered what Mr. Ive meant when he said iPad 2 is made from 2 layers, not 3, in the introduction video. With the same battery performance, how the heck have they added a bit and reduced the thickness so much? Astounding.

I was sitting perpendicular to my wife on our uMBP. That screen is quite thin.. I thought it's probably just a 15" iPad. Crazy how when I got that machine 1.5-2 years ago, I was amazed by the thin screen. Now we have powerful tablets that are as thin with 10h battery life.

In other news, our 15" MBP feels HEAVY compared to my 'almost swollen' (John Gruber) iPad 1. iPad 2 raises the form-factor bar quite high.
