Alexandr I’m trying to decide whether to buy the leather Airtag you purchased because it seems to be the nicest I’ve seen on Etsy. If you had to do it over again would you still purchase it and would you get it again in the Olive color?

I’ve never had anything made of leather on a keychain does this kind of stays stiff in your pocket or does it bend/collapse… if that makes any sense?

Would you purchase the TPU soft holder again?

yea, i get where you're coming from with not wanting the perpendicular ring... that's a tough one. i guess i never even tried getting away from that. i already have a fob and a key on it, i figured — what's an extra keychain? :)

This is what i got. Came with a keychain but putting it through the loop the keychain went through allows it to lie flat in line with the keys.
Bought it from Amazon in the UK, pretty cheap £4 (about $5)

I also like that the tag goes in through the top so there's no way its coming out once the chain is in. I have another type where it just goes into the flexible holder but I've had them pop out of that.

looks nice — and thick enough to protect the tag more, but i still see some scratches on it.
yea — the second one i linked has that issue — it hasn't yet, but it can pop out at some point.

hey Mike! i adore the leather one, and the color is gorgeous! i am planning on getting another one for a second set of keys. i love the color combo and would order it again if i didn't already have it. i'm thinking of the blue one now!
so to put things in perspective — i am in florida right now, so i've been wearing fairly loose shorts and the leather is still fine. i presume that if you wear tight denim — it might get a bit bent and all that. mine is still too new to tell, but i'm hoping it will just look better with age.

and i'm very much fond of the tpu keychain too. it looks and feels nicer than i had expected. the only downside — it can potentially open up and release the tag, but it hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for the info I’m going to order the exact same leather holder you did just can’t make up my mind whether I want it monogrammed or not.

i'm so glad that my recommendation helped! i decided against it, in my mind — it cheapens it a bit, but it's purely a matter of personal taste :)

i've found it to be a great challenge to find attractive airtag keychains that will keep it from getting scratched. was curious which ones you guys have found.

here are the 2 that i ordered. i'm quite happy with both, but would love to see some other ones!

this one is just gorgeous!

this one is simpler, but feels quite nice(the plastic is soft, which i didn't expect)

Will the bottom part split open it looks like just a snap on? I was interested in this one since it protects scratches but afraid bottom part will split open and Airtag will fall off.

it can. it hasn't yet for me, and i'm also hoping that if it does happen — it will happen in my pocket. it doesn't bother me too much, honestly, but to answer your question — it can happen.

Thanks I will pass. one of the reviews said it split opened but it was attached to the cat maybe cat scratched it.

The scratches were from when it was in the previous holder as id only just put it in when I took that pic , but the hole is only on one side so if I put the tag so the white plastic was showing then the metal side couldn't get scratched but I literally don't care about it getting scratched. Also as the metal side wouldn't be visible you couldn't see whether it was scratched or not. I did mean to experiment if it was louder one way or the other as I should put it in the way that's loudest.

gotcha! so did it make a difference to the sound?

AirTag arrived today.
Decided to go with the smaller one of the two I got of AliExpress.
Looks good, feels good. Actually separates the AirTag from they keys due to the keys hanging in a 90 degree angle towards the case.

looks good! i guess that makes sense, the whole 90º — i wonder if the tag will look the same in a month or two.

Probably from the same sweatshop that makes the “Hermès” one😂
I once visited a factory where some "designer" clothes were made. You could buy the genuine items with logo for maybe half price compared to retail, without the logo for some small fraction of that price, and for a nominal sum buy the logo to stitch on yourself.

There just always will be a difference between buying in Shenzen or buying a big label product in a brand store here.
Just take Lego as an example. Buy Mould King you save 2/3 of a price, but Lego build the brand decades and payed lots of money on the way to make more money with every sale now.

i'm with you on the experience — i bought my rolex from a rolex store for the experience, i'm sure i could've gotten it a bit cheaper elsewhere, but some of us do care about the experience :)

These were the genuine article, not knock offs.

For anyone based in the UK I found these on Etsy and have been really impressed with them:
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1031811919/apple-airtag-genuine-leather-keychain
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1017845806/apple-airtag-genuine-leather-keychain
They are a bit fiddly to get the AirTag inside them, but it's definitely secure once installed. The volume on the AirTag itself seems fine when fully enclosed in these.
I ordered the circular and square in brown leather and circular in black leather. Really good quality and look exactly the same as the photos on Etsy.

nice! the square one is very similar to the one that i've got!

I just want to see keys eliminated entirely. I walk up to a door or my car and the bluetooth in my watch has already unlocked it as soon as I got into range.

I've been berating Toyota how they should have eliminated their $700 fobs years ago...everyone else should be doing the same. No need for this hardware - we all have our phones with us (even better for a watch app).

i agree in part, but this isn't just for keys though. these can be used for backpacks/luggage and many other things.
