Lipshitz - Leave your children a legacy
Smith - You'll never stand out again, make sure to buy the glasses with the nose and mustache
Hyman - Careful, don't break it ;)
Beaver - A fine name if your first name isn't Harry
Morehead - You may find trouble dating though...
Knipl - Again, if your name is Harry, not an option
Amigone - stay away from funeral homes though
Treworgy - kinda freaky, might work
Handwerker - Make sure to use the non-tanning Jergins
Woodcock - Nah, Billy Bob Thornton ruined it for us all

Hmmm, Maybe your last name isn't that bad after all...

I had friends whose last name was Johnson. They named their son Harry. Not funny.. poor guy :(

I'm also thinking no to any James Bond Villainess name. Galore, Goodhead, etc etc are Also not options.

I would think changing your last name would really raise some red flags down the line if you ever need a thorough background check for a job or what not. Keep your last name. But if you must change it, use Vader. That'll really be a conversation starter!

I have a weird last name but I don't mind, though I do sometimes think I'll change my name to Apple iPhone, I might make the front page of Engadget for a bit then! :p

Seriously though, if I where you, I'd just keep my name as it is.

I have a friend with an odd-ish last name. At restaurants, when the hostess asks for a name to call when a table is ready, he gives the name "King." He says it is short, people can pronounce it, and it is easy hear and to distinquish from other last names that might get called out.

Strange but true ... :p

I have a very easy-to-read and easy-to-pronounce last name. It's a relatively common English word, that pretty much has only one spelling. Yet it astounds me the number of people who have to ask me how to spell it.

Despite all that, I wouldn't change it for anything.

Obama is a Kenyan name (of the Luo tribe), not a middle eastern name.

And since he lives in Canada, then I'd say 'Harper' is more relevant.

/People always misspell my last name as well, even if I spell it for them as they are writing it down. And it's only 4 letters long.

Yeah, but if he says "Hi, I'm Bob Harper" no one will think anything of it, if he says "Hi, I'm Bob Obama" then you'll be like "omgholycrapwtf??"

I hadn't thought of that, that may be a problem.

That's kind of what I'm trying to avoid :p

I was gonna say Jobs, you coulda been his long lost son. How about the last name of Macracken? You could change your first name to Phil. I knew someone that just dropped their last name and used their middle name as their last. That may be an option.

Off Lets Go To Prison-Leshitzki not sure if its spelled right
Its just a fun name to say. Rolls off the toungue

Try having a Middle Eastern last name... it's a hard thing to have in this day and age. I don't look TOO Middle Eastern, it's the name that trips the alarm. Do you realize how hard it is to get through security etc? In this day and age, for some people, it's still a reason to conceal your heritage.

You should be glad you still have a Middle Eastern name. When my grandfather came to the U.S. from Lebanon in the 1920s, he took an American name.

French is better than Middle Eastern at least though!

I haven't had my name for too long, I'm still young :p. And it's my last name too, not my first name, that'll stay the same.

I think I'll pass on those haha

I am Armenian, with quite a long and difficult last name for most people, but why do I care? It's who I am. Stay close to who you are. That name carries family history. Don't ruin it.
