What's in a name? that which we call a rose any other name would smell as sweet

Do you want to change it? Or do you feel pressured? You may regret it later. If you have name from India or Pakistan or several other countries I'm too lazy to name, I personally find those names totally cool! If you do change your name the paperwork is a pain, and some things will always have your old name and some will have your new. But it's not all bad.

Well, since you asked... In "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin" Reggie faked his own death and came back as "Martin Wellborn".

But, if I was you, I would keep my name and be proud of it.

Well, I've decided what I'm going to do. After some thought, I've decided to cut my name in half, seeing as it's hyphenated. I usually use only the first segment of my full last name anyways, and the rest of my extended family has also cut the other part off.

I think it strikes a good balance between, well, keeping my name, and making it sound less foreign.

well you could do what a friend of mine did.
took the meaning of her last name and translated it into english.
then hit the thesaurus for more interesting variations.
she ended up with her name being Starr. was plain Star but added the extra R for coolness.

Good choice. I was going to comment that many immigrants changed or modified their name when they moved to Canada/USA so what you were considering has been common in the past. It's even better that you can modify your current name to make it better for you.

Good luck - Greg

I like your idea of taking a part and making it the whole, but if you change your mind then I would like to suggest...

C'mon you know you want to do it. :D

JUST IRRESISTIBLE! :p

I think proving it's not for marriage, changing your last name is pretty much turning your back on who you are.
Why would you think that? It's not like last names have any meaning or any relevance whatsoever to your personality/character...
