  1. When the phone is sleeping, hit the home or sleep/wake button to wake it up. It takes about 1-second for the fade out animation to complete. Cool at first, but gives the illusion of Windows-like slow wake up. Thankfully, one can swipe to unlock before the animation completes. Putting the iPhone to sleep also takes 1-second.
  2. Slide to unlock. Another 1-second animation, except in this case, you cannot launch or swipe to different home screen until the animation completes.
  3. Launch an app, then hit Home button to go back home. The animation is about 1.5 seconds long on my iPhone 5, and again, the animation is not interruptible.
  4. Open or close a folder in the Home page. Again, another non-interruptible 1-second animation.
  5. Open an app. Another 1-second non-interruptible animation.
  6. Double click to open multitasking tray. Yup, another 1-second non-interruptible animation.

What I want: make all animations interruptible and bring it down to half a second.

that's it man you're genius

Regarding iOS 7: It will grow on you. Give it a chance ;)

I've been running it since Beta 1. iOS6 looks so dated after you use iOS 7 for a while.

Definitely agree about iOS 7 on the iPhone. The iPad still needs a lot of work. So many problems still exist, and I think the design aesthetic in general is more suited for the smaller iPhone screen. iOS 6 looks a bit drag at this point compared to iOS 7, but iOS 7 on the iPad with such large, empty white spaces throughout, has it's own version of drab going on.

But damn, I would never, ever, ever, ever want to go back to iOS 6 on my iPhone.

I'm with the iOS 6 looks SO much better camp. Seems to me they took the polished look out and made it look unfinished. Now I feel like we have icons from Windows 3.1 days instead of the nice shiny colorful icons we had in previous versions. I really liked the apps with the skemorphism as they looked real. Now it looks blah. One of the things that always made Android look bad. And to those of you that say, once you see iOS 7 it will make iOS 6 look bad, not a chance.... I still have iOS 6 on my iPad 3 and it looks SOOOO much better.

Love the features of iOS 7 but hate the look. But like the OP said... Guess we are stuck with it.

IMO they should have kept Scott Forstall and fired Jony Ive. (Or kept him in hardware design only)

iOS 7 is the distillation of everything Apple has learned about the iPhone since the original launched in June of 2007, and simply put, it's beautiful. You'll end up liking it and wonder how you ever lived with the skeuomorphic design of all previous versions.

No.

The whole "it will grow on you" is really a "you'll learn to tolerate it." It's still butt-ugly and amateur, but you either get over it or revert back (not a smart option).

Not always. The way the brain works, when we are repeating somethign over and over all day every day (like you do when using an operating system), any change uses different neural pathways, and that can cause some discomfort (like the effort in learning something new). At a basic level, humans like to avoid discomfort, and so changing anything that is so often used will have an period of adapting. Once you have adapted, you can then assess whether you like it or not. Its not automatic. You can get used to something and still think it sucks. Seems most people get used to the new OS and like it. Obviously some wont.

Having used iOS 7 from June onward I can say that I've not only grown to enjoy the interaction and blur with various wallpapers but I like the icons now! I never thought I'd say it but I care more that Instagram, Pocket, Simple and 1Password aren't flat!

My feelings exactly.
Except I won't get use to it.

There are many other manufacturers to choose from but remember to delete your account on the way out.

The OP referred only to the aesthetics which I don't like at all.
I hope they don't do the same with Mac OS X.

About the interaction and other features, I do like them.

Currently, I own a phone from another manufacturer and I will not delete my account for stating my opinion which is as valid as yours or anybody else's.
I guess that's the reason this is called a forum.

I'm not here flattering Apple or anyone else, nor to offend.
If I like or dislike something, that's what I'll state here.

You can't argue about taste.
We all have our own.

This was a very much needed update.

Many people, medias, and so on, have called iOS very dull, now that Android and Windows Phone 7+, are starting to take on the next design trend. Not only on the internet, but also people i know, like coworkers, friends and so on.

Seriously, the last couple of iOS updates, didn't bring much - this one brought alot - everything has changed, so many different details, not just design.

When I saw screenshots and videos, I also thought it looked too simple, and unpolished, but after I've actually used it for some days, I love it, and think it has superseded the competition -alot-. (And yes, I have used newest android and windows phones a couple of months each).
Now when I look back on old <ios6 + apps, they look old.

There will always be people who are not happy to change, and would like to stay in the comfort zone of old days design, but time change, thats how it works - and if Apple didn't do anything, they would be left behind - I personally think they did something, plus alot more.

I'm looking forward to the new iOS7 design updated apps, when they start to pop up.

ps. As for small details, I just noticed the other day that Maps's turn-by-turn now have night mode on, when its getting dark outside, pretty nice if you use it for gps alot :)

90% of iOS 7 is absolutely atrocious and hideous, IMO. Nice new wallpapers, but the bottom BLOCK of a dock ruins them. :( .... guess i'll get use to it......

Okay...

Have you actually used iOS7?

Seems to me you're judging the book by it's cover.

Aesthetically, it's designed for kids with bright cold colours on blinding bright white l backgrounds moving away from serious blacks. Features wise, some omissions and too much txt/scrolling opposed to ios6 icons

Have a bitch will ya mate. Strewth, feel better now? I know you're trolling hard but man, gets my jimmies rustled every time.

You should start up you're own phone company and design you're own OS.

Sound like you've got it all figured out.

Thanks for the cursory psychology lesson. But if iOS 7 were prettier, I'm sure fewer would've experienced any "discomfort" in the transition.

I saw someone mention the slide-to-back gesture. Can't tell you how appreciative I am for that - I'm working on an app and programming that would've added weeks to development time.

I like the overall look of iOS 7. Except for the grey background for the task bar and folders. They just don't look esthetically pleasing with there rest of the look. Better to have made them black, or better yet, let the user choose what colour they should be. Even a transparent background with a white outline would be much better than just plain ol grey. As for the icons, they are hit and a miss. The ones that use the whole area for graphics don't look bad. But icons like the App Store, Clock, and Safari, the circles are too big. I like the new Chrome app icon, or even the Mail icon. That's how big the geometric graphics should be within the the icon area. Or fill just fill the whole area, like the Calculator and Maps icon.

i dont like the iOS 7! its not for me and unless they make improvement on it
